Two celebrities were trending for posing nude this week, but only one is being criticized for the move, fans claim.
Many followers were taken aback to see Britney Spears posting nude photos to her Instagram account Monday. The 40-year-old mom of two, who is pregnant, shared the snaps that left very little to the imagination. She wrote in the caption, “Photo dump of the last time I was in Mexico BEFORE there was a baby inside me. … Why the heck do I look 10 years younger on vacation.”
Followers flooded the comments with messages of concern, calling the photos “sick” and claiming the “Gimme More” singer was “crying for help.” They questioned whether her conservatorship, which just ended in November, should have been terminated at all.
Then on Tuesday, singer Hilary Duff, 34, garnered attention when Women’s Health teased a sneak peek of its May/June cover story. The spread features the mom of three totally nude in various poses.
“I’m proud of my body,” Duff told the publication during an interview. “I’ve gotten to a place of being peaceful with the changes my body has gone through.”
“I think that at 34 I have just gained a lot of respect for my body,” she continued.
“It’s taken me all of the places I need to go. It’s helped me build a beautiful family. I feel like the older I get, the more confident I get in my own skin. And my body’s been many different shapes and sizes and I’m really just fascinated by, one, being a woman. And two, all the changes that your body can go through throughout your lifetime.”
Some Britney fans were stunned by the “hypocrisy” of celebrating Duff’s nude photos while chastising Spears for basically doing the same thing.
“Notice how Britney Spears was harassed by the media and comments for showing naked pictures but Hilary Duff does it and she gets magazine covers and worshipped as ‘Stunning and Brave,'” one Twitter user shared. “So…whats going on with this double standard?”

Fans also pointed out how weird it was to see both Spears and Duff trending in the same week as both were massively popular in the early 2000s.
