The Associated Press reports that a 19-year-old man was arrested at a Trump rally in Las Vegas, Nevada after trying to grab an officer’s gun, successfully grabbing the handle, and attempting to kill the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
According to a federal officer, Michael Steven Sandford “told authorities he tried to grab an officer’s gun so he could kill the candidate” at the rally on Saturday.
A report by Special Agent Swierkowski reportedly states that the suspect told officers that he came from California and went to a gun range in Vegas the day before the rally to “learn how to shoot.”
While at the Trump rally held at the Treasure Island Casino, Sandford told a police officer at the event that he “wanted an autograph from Trump,” notes the AP.
The report says Sandford was arrested after grabbing the handle of an officer’s gun in an attempt to remove it.
Following the incident, a complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court in Nevada, charging Sanford with “an act of violence on restricted grounds,” reports AP.
In March, a protester in Dayton, Ohio rushed the stage and grabbed the bottom of Trump’s pants before U.S. Secret Service restrained the man and quickly surrounded Trump. See the video clip below:
