During a recent campaign event, Democratic presidential candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden enthusiastically promised to do away with President Donald Trump’s economy-stimulating tax cuts, vowing to raise, “not cut” taxes on Americans.
“How many of you did well with that $1.9 trillion tax cut?” Biden asked a crowd during a campaign stop. “Really good shape, right?” the candidate asked sarcastically, downplaying the affects on the economy.
“Well, you did!” he said to one rally attendee who applauded the tax cuts. “Well, that’s good. I’m glad to see you’re doing good already.”
“But guess what, if you elect me, your taxes are gonna be raised, not cut, if you benefited from that,” Biden promised.
The president’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. responded to Biden’s promise to raise taxes on Monday.
“The reality is that these tax cuts benefited the middle class incredibly in this country,” Don Jr. posted via Instagram.
“It was needed to spur investment into American companies and this is why you have the unemployment number if you have and why you have rising wages for the lowest income earners,” he explained. “Joe wants to take all of that away and destroy the American middle class probably to pay for free healthcare, insurance, and free education for illegals.”
Don Jr. added that Biden “may be worse than The Bern,” referring to Democratic presidential candidate and open socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
While Biden was clearly suggesting the Trump tax cuts were only beneficial to the most wealthy in the nation, analysis from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center found that about two-thirds of American taxpayers received a tax cut under the plan and top wage earners were on track to pay more in taxes in 2018 than they did in 2017, as The Daily Wire highlighted in April 2018.
In fact, the federal government raked in a record $1,665,484,000,000 in taxes in 2018, the best year of income for the government on record.
“CNS News reports that the December monthly receipts statement from the U.S. Department of the Treasury lists 2018 as the best year for the feds ever, even though the president signed a major tax break into law at the end of 2017,” The Daily Wire reported.
Biden won the South Carolina primary this weekend and picked up endorsements from failed Democratic presidential candidates Robert “Beto” O’Rourke and former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg on Monday.
O’Rourke, an anti-Second Amendment rights extremist, was recently tapped to lead Biden’s gun control efforts.
“I wanna make something clear, I’m going to guarantee you this is not the last you’ve seen of [O’Rourke],” Biden told a rally audience in Texas on Monday evening. “You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me. You’re going to be the one who leads this effort.”
“I’m counting on you. I’m counting on you,” the former VP added. “We need you badly, the state needs you, the country needs you. You’re the best.”
