Nearly all Hollywood stars are eager to boast of their left-wing credentials, constantly sounding-off about the #Resistance to Literally Hitler President Donald Trump and the need for the government to stop the climate from changing, or something. But Transformers actor Josh Duhamel has a different take: Hollywood stars would do better to shut their mouths when it comes to politics.
Speaking to Fox News about social media and it’s effectiveness in today’s world, Duhamel said he doesn’t use the medium to talk politics — in fact, he refrains from talking politics anywhere publicly.
“I don’t necessarily think it’s important to tell people how to vote,” said the 44-year-old actor. “That’s one thing I don’t do. I don’t like to get involved politically at all. Nobody cares what I think politically.”
Duhamel, who is married to Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, added that the American people simply don’t care about Hollywood stars’ political opinions.
“Anybody in entertainment who thinks people care what they think politically are really misinformed. That’s one thing I stay away from. I stay away from politics because nobody cares what I think,” he said.
While Duhamel’s position is definitely a minority within the Hollywood ranks, comedian and actor Kevin Hart recently came out with a similar stance:
“When you jump into that political realm, you’re alienating some of your audience,” Hart told Variety. “The world today, it’s really not a laughing matter. It’s serious. I don’t want to draw attention to things I don’t have nice things to say about.”
The rest of Hollywood was seemingly too busy calling Trump a fascist and subsequently alienating half their audience to hear the message.
