Last night, the ABC the hit show, “Scandal,” did Planned Parenthood’s dirty work for them. The episode showed the main character, Olivia Pope, played by actress Kerry Washington, undergoing an abortion while the Christian hymn “Silent Night” played in the background.
The abortion scene ended with Washington’s character staring at a Christmas tree while “Ave Maria” was playing. Also, the character, Melie—who is the always-cheated-on president’s wife—preformed her own version of the “Wendy Davis filibuster” in favor of abortion.
The disturbing scene has triggered heavy conservative backlash: “The entire hour was an advertisement for Planned Parenthood, but the absolute worst scene was a montage set to the Christmas hymn ‘Silent Night,’ a song that celebrates the birth of Christ, while main character Olivia Pope … has an abortion, killing her and the president’s baby,” wrote Newsbusters’ Alexa Moutevelis Coombs after remarking that the episode crossed “a sickening line.”
Kerry Washington tweeted out her support for Planned Parenthood mere hours before the pro-abortion, propaganda episode aired, exposing its already-obvious agenda behind the episode titled “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”

Piling on the shameless acts was the abortion queen that is Planned Parenthood. The organization released a devious and talking-point-oriented statement after the episode aired last night to finalize the propaganda.
Shonda Rhimes, the show’s creator, was feted for “using her platform” to show that millions of people would “suffer” without the organization which specializes in gruesome abortion and the selling of fetal body parts: Planned Parenthood.

Tonight, the millions of people who tune into Scandal every Thursday night learned that our rights to reproductive health care are under attack. Never one to shy away from critical issues, [showrunner] Shonda Rhimes used her platform to tell the world that if Planned Parenthood lost funding for contraception counseling, STI testing, cancer screenings, and safe, legal abortion — millions of people would suffer. And this episode wasn’t the first time one of Rhimes’ characters had an abortion, yet tonight we saw one of our favorite characters make the deeply personal decision that one in three women have made in their lifetime. We applaud Shonda Rhimes tonight — and every Thursday night – for proving that when women are telling our stories, the world will pause and watch. We just hope those in Congress — and throughout the nation — who are steadfast on rolling the clock back on reproductive health care access are taking note.
