Fox News host Chris Wallace slammed the Democrat-controlled House Judiciary Committee and Special Counsel Robert Mueller on Wednesday over the committee's hearing with Mueller, saying that it has been a "disaster" for both the Democrats and Mueller.
"I think you both have been very kind," Wallace told Fox News' Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum regarding their remarks on the hearing. "This has been a disaster for the Democrats, and I think it’s been a disaster for the reputation of Robert Mueller."
"He has been attacked a number of times and you would think that almost anybody else would have defended his own integrity and the integrity of the investigation, and over and over Mueller just sits silent and allows the attacks from the Republicans to sweep over him and says nothing," Wallace continued. "I think it does raise questions about the degree to which he actually was in charge and in control of this report because he doesn’t seem very much in control or in charge of what the final report was."
Baier said that "a series of questions and answers" involving Mueller were at times "halting and slow and painful" to watch. "If Democrats wanted this to be about the movie, it was sometimes not a great narrative to watch as far as being a smooth movie to watch for the special counsel as he testifies about his report."
"Yeah I mean I think it's unavoidable that one of the clearest takeaways from this morning is that Robert Muller's responses to these questions have been halting as you say," MacCallum responded as she then proceeded to highlight specific examples of problematic moments for Mueller.
President Donald Trump noticed Wallace's statements and tweeted it out: "'This has been a disaster for the Democrats and a disaster for the reputation of Robert Mueller.' Chris Wallace @FoxNews"
