If you thought President Trump would back off his attacks on "The Squad," think again.
Trump hammered the four Democratic lawmakers — Reps. Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts — last weekend, and even after allegations of racism and xenophobia, he's kept up the attacks.
Stretching the story for a sixth day, Trump took to Twitter on Friday to rip Omar, who was greeted like a returning hero when she arrived at the airport in Minneapolis on Thursday.
"It is amazing how the Fake News Media became 'crazed' over the chant 'send her back' by a packed Arena (a record) crowd in the Great State of North Carolina, but is totally calm & accepting of the most vile and disgusting statements made by the three Radical Left Congresswomen..." Trump wrote on Twitter.
And he wasn't done.
"....Mainstream Media, which has lost all credibility, has either officially or unofficially become a part of the Radical Left Democrat Party. It is a sick partnership, so pathetic to watch! They even covered a tiny staged crowd as they greeted Foul Mouthed Omar in Minnesota, a... ....State which I will win in #2020 because they can’t stand her and her hatred of our Country, and they appreciate all that I have done for them (opening up mining and MUCH more) which has led to the best employment & economic year in Minnesota’s long and beautiful history!" he wrote.
Trump was referring to Omar's arrival, reported by bringmethenews.com with a headline, "lhan Omar's arrival at MSP Airport becomes a viral moment."
Trump has pulled back, at least a bit. After Trump ripped Omar — who came to the United States as a child and became an American citizen at age 12 — at a North Carolina rally on Wednesday, some in the crowd chanted "SEND HER BACK! SEND HER BACK!"
"I was not happy with it. I disagree with it," Trump told to reporters at the White House on Thursday.
Asked why he did not stop chant: "I think I did — I started speaking very quickly."
But he also said at the rally: "Tonight I have a suggestion for the hate-filled extremists who are constantly trying to tear our country down. They never have anything good to say. That’s why I say, hey, if they don’t like it, let them leave. Let them leave."
For her part, Omar turned the moment into a fundraising tool.
"Last night on a campaign rally stage in North Carolina, Donald Trump lashed out at me again while his supporters in the crowd chanted 'send her back,' " she said in an email to supporters.
"Trump is spreading xenophobic lies about me because he’s threatened by the policies that I’m fighting for in Congress everyday with your support. He’s doing this as a distraction to rile up his base and keep the headlines off of his disastrous policies. Will you rush a donation of $3 to my campaign right now to show Donald Trump how strong our campaign and movement are?" Omar wrote.
