Seth Meyers, the host of NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers," has provided cover to the two most anti-Semitic members of Congress over the last two weeks and is now facing backlash for it.
On Monday night, Meyers allowed Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) to continue peddling her anti-Semitic revisionist history surrounding the history of the Holocaust and the creation of Israel. The Free Beacon reported:
NBC late-night host Seth Meyers, an open supporter of Democrats, allowed Tlaib to provide "context" for her comments in a sycophantic interview on Monday. Tlaib again said her ancestors died or gave up their "human dignity" to "provide a safe haven for Jews in our world," and she said she wanted to honor that. Her remarks were again false, but Meyers provided no pushback.
Meyers, who falsely claimed that "in the media" you "don’t get the Palestinian perspective," gently told Tlaib that her history was not accurate but failed to press her on what she believes, why she believes it, and where she learned it from. Tablet Magazine reported:
There were 433 more Holocaust survivors killed by Palestinians and Jordanians violently opposing the creation of a safe haven for Jews in what had historically and spiritually been their homeland. To attempt and rewrite their well-documented experiences is to victimize them yet again, an unforgivable and deeply anti-Semitic act.
Last week, Meyers defended Rep. Ilhan Omar's (D-MN) anti-Semitism when he faced off against Meghan McCain, who brought up just a couple of the anti-Semitic tropes and conspiracy theories that Omar has promoted.
"Is there a way for people to talk about differences in Israeli policy without getting framed as anti-Semitic language?" Meyers asked.
"Yeah, I just think you can’t talk about Jews hypnotizing the world, talking about ‘all about the Benjamins," McCain fired back.
"You do keep bringing up the two tweets that she’s apologized for and I think that’s a little unfair to her, especially because we’ve established —" Meyers claimed.
"Are you her publicist?" McCain responded. "Are you her press person?"
Many online quickly noticed Meyers' new pattern of defending anti-Semitic Democrats on his program.
"Guessing Seth Meyers is not going to be asking Rashida Tlaib about this pic of Palestinian nationalism founder Mohammed Amin al-Husseini telling Hitler what a great idea the Holocaust is," Harry Khachatrian tweeted.
"I love watching Seth Meyers drool over Tlaib one week after he decided to arm-wrestle Meghan McCain over criticizing Ilhan Omar and then do the 'I just want to find common ground' routine," David Rutz tweeted. "Just precious."
"So I guess @sethmeyers is now the last line of defense for Congressional anti-Semitism," Jonathan Greenberg tweeted. "What a weird thing to want to make of yourself."
"What’s that? Another antisemite needs some love? Send up the Meyersignal!" Seth Mandel tweeted.
"[email protected] tries to rescue @RashidaTlaib, and she still peddles the fiction Palestinians had to suffer to create a “safe haven” for Jews," Joel Pollak tweeted. "She does not acknowledge the historic Jewish connection to Israel, or Palestinian responsibility for conflict, or offense her words caused."
"When is [Valerie] Plame going on @sethmeyers?" David Harsanyi tweeted.
