President Donald Trump and the White House sounded off on Sunday after Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report indicated that neither the president nor his campaign colluded with the Russian government during the 2016 election.
Trump tweeted: "No Collusion, No Obstruction, Complete and Total EXONERATION. KEEP AMERICA GREAT!"
White House Press Secretary Sanders tweeted: "The Special Counsel did not find any collusion and did not find any obstruction. AG Barr and DAG Rosenstein further determined there was no obstruction. The findings of the Department of Justice are a total and complete exoneration of the President of the United States."
"A great day for America and for President @realDonaldTrump," Sanders added. "After two years of wild anti-Trump hysteria, the President and his millions of supporters have been completely vindicated."
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said in a statement: "The Special Counsel’s conclusions confirm the President’s account that there was no effort by his campaign to conspire or coordinate with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election."
Before boarding Air Force One, Trump told reporters: "It was just announced there was no collusion with Russia, the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. There was no collusion with Russia, there was no obstruction."
Trump also referenced the investigation's connection to the criminal investigation into Hillary Clinton, saying: "Hopefully someone is going to look at the other side, this was an illegal takedown that failed."
"After more than 2 years of non-stop conspiracy theories from CNN, MSNBC, Buzzfeed and the rest of the mainstream media, as well as daily lies and smears coming from Democrats in Washington, the Mueller Report proves what those of us with sane minds have known all along, there was ZERO collusion with Russia," Donald Trump Jr. said in a statement. "Sadly, instead of apologizing for needlessly destabilizing the country in a transparent attempt to delegitimize the 2016 election, it's clear that the Collusion Truthers in the media and the Democrat Party are only going to double down on their sick and twisted conspiracy theories moving forward."
Trump Jr. concluded by writing: "It's my hope that honest journalists within the media have the courage to hold these now fully debunked truthers accountable and treat them with the scorn and ridicule that they so deserve."
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted: "After two years, multiple investigations, millions of taxpayer dollars, nonstop media coverage and lies about @realDonaldTrump… What do we have? NO COLLUSION."
Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said in a statement: "I look forward to reviewing more details about the steps Robert Mueller’s team took at taxpayer expense to reach these conclusions… For the good of our nation, I hope that we all can accept the Justice Department’s findings and move forward."
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) tweeted: "I have just received topline findings from Attorney General Barr. Good day for the rule of law. Great day for President Trump and his team. No collusion and no obstruction. The cloud hanging over President Trump has been removed by this report."
"Bad day for those hoping the Mueller investigation would take President Trump down," Graham added. "Great job by Mr. Mueller and his team to thoroughly examine all things Russia. Now it is time to move on, govern the country, and get ready to combat Russia and other foreign actors ahead of 2020."
