Chelsea Clinton Harassed At Vigil Over Past Comments Condemning Anti-Semitism

There is just no way to be sufficiently “woke” for today’s Left.

On Feb. 10, former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton tweeted against anti-Semitism in response to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) comments regarding Jews. Omar has repeatedly suggested American Jews hold “dual loyalty” to Israel, even after being told this was a blatant anti-Semitic trope.

“Co-signed as an American. We should expect all elected officials, regardless of party, and all public figures to not traffic in anti-Semitism.”

Now, a month later, Clinton was accused of inciting the New Zealand mosque shooter because of this tweet.

While attending a vigil at New York University for the victims of the vicious attack, which left 49 dead and dozens more injured, several Muslim students went up Clinton and began berating her for her past tweet.

Senior Leen Dweik began pointing her finger in Clinton’s face and angrily accusing her rhetoric of inspiring the mass shooter.

“This right here is the result of a massacre stoked by people like you and the words that you put out into the world,” Dweik said.

“And I want you to know that and I want you to feel that deeply - 49 people died because of the rhetoric you put out there,” Dweik continued. Other students snapped in the background to show approval for Dweik’s comments.

Clinton, who is pregnant with her third child, remained calm and collected while the student spoke, and responded by saying, “I’m so sorry you feel that way.” This only angered the students more, and one male shouted: “What does ‘I'm sorry you feel that way’ mean? What does that mean?”

Clinton was not the only person to condemn Omar’s anti-Semitism, so she seems an odd target for student ire.

The student who uploaded the video, Rose Asaf, also asked people to support her and the woman who harassed Clinton at the vigil via Venmo. Asaf now claims that her video is copyrighted and that anyone who posts it “without permission will be asked to delete.” She also insisted that Clinton incited a “mob” against Omar for her single tweet.

Dweik also took to Twitter to criticize non-Muslims for showing up at the vigil.

“[I] was on the verge of tears all day today and actually cried on my into and during prayer but the charade of a vigil where more non-[M]uslims than [M]uslims spoke and [C]helsea [C]linton was invited made me so viscerally angry and [I] will not apologize for that,” she wrote.

One has to wonder how calling out anti-Semitism relates to Islamophobia, unless these NYU students believe anti-Semitism is a part of Islam. Omar was not simply criticizing Israel, she was offering anti-Semitic tropes in place of legitimate criticism.

It’s even more absurd to believe that Chelsea Clinton, of all people, would inspire anyone to act in the way the New Zealand shooter did. Clinton tamely condemned anti-Semitism, and is now being blamed for Islamophobia.

Clinton has not responded to the harassment yet, but has retweeted others responding to the attack itself, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) erroneous claim that President Donald Trump is enforcing a “Muslim ban” in America.
