Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) received harsh criticism from across the political spectrum on Wednesday after she attacked President Donald Trump for his response to Saudi Arabia with regard to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi.
Trump said on Tuesday: "If we abandon Saudi Arabia, it would be a terrible mistake," adding, "We may never know all of the facts surrounding the murder of Mr. Jamal Khashoggi. In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They have been a great ally in our very important fight against Iran."
Gabbard responded on Wednesday, tweeting: "Hey @realdonaldtrump: being Saudi Arabia’s bitch is not "America First.'"
Gabbard was immediately slammed by figures across the political spectrum for her tweet due to a meeting that she had with Syrian President Bashar Assad in January 2017.
