We know it's hard to imagine, but, shockingly, the newly named head of Planned Parenthood is a liar, in addition to the whole overseeing-a-genocide-of-unborn-babies thing.
On Thursday, Planned Parenthood President Dr. Leana Wen took to "The View" roundtable to dodge questions and tell blatant lies while shilling for the lucrative "nonprofit" she now manages.
After co-hosts Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg obscenely worshipped Wen, their colleague Sunny Hostin pressed the new president about Planned Parenthood's glaring lack of transparency.
"I know that Planned Parenthood provides service for women of color, for low income women, and that's very noble. But I also know that Planned Parenthood provides more abortions, the most abortions than any other health care provider in the United States," stated Hostin. "And in fact, in I think 2016, Planned Parenthood provided 328,348 abortions ... that’s more than, well, women exams, pap tests, HPV vaccinations, Planned Parenthood doesn't perform mammograms."
"But Planned Parenthood, I don’t think is transparent about that. Planned Parenthood says it’s only 3 percent of their services," Hostin said, highlighting a Washington Post 3-Pinocchio fact-check. "Why isn't Planned Parenthood more transparent about its true position?" asked Hostin.
"Well, I disagree with this. Planned Parenthood just like every major medical organization that I’ve ever worked for follows the law and is transparent and makes clear what are the procedures that we perform and what services we perform, sidestepped Wen, adding the debunked claim: "Over 90 percent of the services performed are preventative care services."
"But why not be transparent about that?" Hostin pushed back. "It seems to me that Planned Parenthood is trying to have it both ways."
After Behar and Goldberg ran interference for Wen, Hostin willingly shifted her attention toward the half a billion taxpayer dollars funding the abortion giant. "There has been this issue about federal funding," said Hostin.
"There are no federal taxpayer dollars that go towards abortion," said Wen, adding that the organization simply gets "reimbursed" for non-abortion health services.
This is a lie, of course — the same as when former Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards uttered it.
As extensively documented by Live Action News, "Planned Parenthood and its supporters often claim that the federal tax dollars they receive are mere 'reimbursements,' and that tax dollars do not pay for abortions. They base their claims in part on the federal Hyde Amendment, which, as Live Action News has previously pointed out, prevents federal dollars from funding most abortions through Medicaid but holds an exception to allow funding in cases involving rape, incest, and life of the mother."
Understanding the fungibility of money within an organization is paramount if one wants to understand why many Republicans want to pull federal dollars from Planned Parenthood. Merriam-Webster defines "fungibility" as "being something (such as money or a commodity) of such a nature that one part or quantity may be replaced by another equal part or quantity in paying a debt or settling an account." ...
That's fungibility; money floats around. Even if federal law like the Hyde Amendment prohibits taxpayer dollars from directly funding abortions, federal money can be used elsewhere within the Planned Parenthood organization so that other funds can be reallocated for abortion services.
It's only day two and Wen can't stop with the lies. But what did we expect from the leader of Planned Parenthood?
