DILLON: The 'Feminists' Who Interrupted The Judicial Confirmation Hearings Are An Embarrassment

So-called heroic feminists are celebrating themselves for standing up and doing something truly "brave": shouting during a Senate Judiciary confirmation hearing.

That’s right. The many left-wing women who attended the confirmation hearings for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh are basking in attention for simply shouting and interrupting a hearing. Congratulations?

Actress Piper Perabo took to Twitter to praise herself for being arrested "for civil disobedience."

"Many citizens before me have fought for the equal rights of women," she wrote. "I can’t be silent when someone is nominated to the Supreme Court who would take our equal rights away."

Piper’s tweet received more than 11,000 retweets and 41,000 likes. But people shouldn’t find this convincing, let alone worthy of applause. She is not fighting for equal rights. Piper is interrupting a confirmation hearing for an extremely qualified candidate who received a unanimous well-qualified rating — the highest-possible rating from the American Bar Association. How heroic.

These pro-abortion activists do not know if Kavanaugh will ever vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade, and apparently don’t even want to allow the Democratic senators in their own party to have the chance to ask him.

Linda Sarsour, a far-left activist and one of the founders of the Women’s March, also praised herself for interrupting the hearing. "I will be able to tell my daughters and future grandchildren that I STOOD UP," she tweeted. "I was not and will not be silent when our bodies and rights are on the line."

Sarsour’s self-applause is equally undeserved. The way to "stand up" to nominees is by voting for representatives that represent your values and voicing your opinion to your lawmakers — not by interrupting hearings and disgracing the Senate. Besides, the idea that Kavanaugh poses a threat to anyone’s "bodies" is simply absurd, unless you’re somehow threatened by the idea that a conservative justice might actually read the Constitution as written.

Still, the Women’s March was leading the charge against Kavanaugh, and announced on Twitter that they would be interrupting the hearing "every few minutes, with hundreds of women prepared to get arrested to prevent these hearings from moving forward." They later announced that "70+" people were arrested.

These protesters, along with many of the Democrats sitting on the committee, had no actual interest in what Kavanaugh had to say — their mind was already made up. These radical feminists think that by interrupting Kavanaugh’s hearing they are somehow saving women, but in reality, they are doing nothing but embarrassing themselves.
