A recent documentary about a former Hollywood sex worker takes the industry's hedonistic "open secret" to a whole new level as he divulged (in sometimes graphic detail) the many sexual escapades he allegedly participated in with some of Hollywood's biggest stars. From the likes of Cary Grant to Spencer Tracy to Bette Davis, the 95-year-old Scotty Bowers claims to have either slept with these individuals or procured prostitutes for them.
As reported by The Daily Beast, the new documentary "Scotty and the Secret History of Hollywood" makes some of the most outlandish claims about the sexual exploits of Hollywood's classic talents. At several points in the film, Scotty Bowers bluntly states that several stars were either bisexual or closeted homosexuals.
“I f***d Bette Davis in World War II when she was married to a guy," Bowers claims. "I used to fix her up with tricks, and we used to have three-way deals. I went to bed with J. Edgar Hoover. He was in drag. He was not a great beauty either, you know, but I was treating him just like he was a girl."
Bowers' statements about Cary Grant and Rock Hudson along with Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh are even more shocking.
"One day Cary Grant was in the gas station and Rock Hudson just happened to be there, so Cary Grant picked him up," says Bowers. "I fixed him up with Rock for 20 bucks, and Rock saw him several times. This is before Rock had any money.
"Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh, I never tricked them together. I would fix them up with guys, and then I would see her at Gary Cukor’s house. She would come in and quietly open the gate and be like, ‘Shh.’ Ten minutes later I’m f***ing her and she’s screaming."
The film, directed by Matt Tyrnauer, followed Bowers for two years after the release of his memoir, "Full Service: My Adventures in Hollywood and the Secret Sex Lives of the Stars." He did not retire from his profession until the AIDS crisis in the 1980s.
Bowers also claims to have slept with both Spencer Tracy and the abdicated King of England, Edward VIII. Other stars he claims to have set up with prostitutes: Tennessee Williams, Charles Laughton, Vincent Price, Katharine Hepburn, Gloria Swanson, Noël Coward, Rock Hudson, Cole Porter, and more.
"He estimates that he fixed Katharine Hepburn up with more than 150 women over the course of 39 years," reports TDB. '"Cole Porter once requested that Bowers set him up with 15 men at once. 'I want to s**k 15 guys off, one after another,' he said."
To back up some of Bowers' wild claims, the documentary provided interviews and accounts from some of the sex workers employed at the time, several of whom are still alive. "They all verified Bowers’s accounts, some on camera. One even still had an index card Bowers had made with the contact information of a dozen men who were interested in sexual services," the outlet reports.
