On Wednesday, The Cheesecake Factory released a statement regarding their investigation into an alleged attack on a black man who wore a "Make America Great Again" hat in one of their Florida restaurants and was subsequently attacked by its employees.

In a statement, The Cheesecake Factory admitted that its employees attacked 22-year-old Eugenior Joseph, writing:

We were very disappointed to learn that two staff members made disparaging remarks about Mr. Joseph's hat that made him and his family feel unwelcome. As a result, as of Tuesday those two individuals are no longer employed with the company. No guest should ever feel unwelcome in one of our restaurants and we are very sorry. Our investigation is ongoing and we have reached out to Mr. Joseph directly to ask for his assistance.

The Cheesecake Factory initially said that it had apologized in person to everyone affected by the incident immediately following the attack, however witness accounts suggest that may not be entirely accurate as sources close to Joseph indicated Tuesday afternoon that he still had not been contacted by the company.
