The public feud between Fox News host Laura Ingraham and NBA superstars LeBron James and Kevin Durant has continued to escalate, with both James and Durant firing shots and left-leaning outlets decrying Ingraham as "racist" for telling them to "shut up and dribble."
On Friday, Ingraham fired back at critics and provided evidence that race had "nothing to do" with her comments.
"The Left and the media attack dogs can dish it out, can't they, but they can't take it," said Ingraham. She then played a clip of James and Durant trashing President Trump with ESPN host Cari Champion.
"I called those comments unintelligible, not to mention ungrammatical, last night, which is difficult to dispute. And the Left erupted," she said.
Ingraham then read some of the headlines, like this one from Slate: "In Insulting Lebron James, Laura Ingraham Proves James' Point About Racism," which accused her of something "vile and racist."
"Almost all the stories accused me of 'dog-whistle' commentary and many claimed that my line that LeBron should 'shut up and dribble' was 'racist,'" she said. "Uh, what?"
Ingraham then pointed out that she wrote a book 15 years ago titled "Shut Up & Sing," saying she's "been using variants of that title to call out celebrities for 15 years, without regard for skin color, where you came from, what you do."
Ingraham then demonstrated that she's repeatedly used the "shut up and ____" line even on her new show by playing some clips of her doing just that to white actress Jamie Lee Curtis, white actor Mark Hamill, and white late-night host Jimmy Kimmel.
"So, I'm an equal opportunity critic when it comes to left-wing celebrities sounding off on topics of which they know precious little, and as you can see, race has nothing to do with it," said Igraham.
