Pences Mocked For Looking Sad When They Visited WWII Concentration Camp

In February, 2017, Vice President Mike Pence, his wife Karen, and their daughter Charlotte visited the Dachau concentration camp in Germany, where thousands of prisoners died and German doctors performed medical experiments on prisoners, hundreds of whom died or were maimed as a result.

Dachau was established in March 1933 as the first regular concentration camp established by the Nazi government. As The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum states:

Prisoners underwent "selection"; those who were judged too sick or weak to continue working were sent to the Hartheim "euthanasia" killing center near Linz, Austria. Several thousand Dachau prisoners were murdered at Hartheim. Further, the SS used the firing range and the gallows in the crematoria area as killing sites for prisoners.

At least 28,000 prisoners died in Dachau between 1940-1945.

Needless to say, the Pences were grim-faced as they visited the site:

Almost exactly one year later, some people with contempt for Pence decided to mock him and his wife for looking serious at a death camp:

Although one tweet was later deleted and the other Twitter user apologized, the propensity for being nasty should have some limits, and mocking the seriousness of the Pences in this situation is far beyond the pale.
