Today marks the first day of summer. For those with plans to catch up on some reading during the summer months, below is a list of 15 books with conservative themes by some big-name authors, as well as a few who don’t get as much press as their progressive counterparts:
1. True Allegiance by Ben Shapiro
The Daily Wire’s own editor-in-chief offers a story of a nation in crisis. “An illegal immigration crisis has broken out along America’s Southern border — there are race riots in Detroit — a fiery female rancher-turned-militia leader has vowed revenge on the president for his arrogant policies — and the world’s most notorious terrorist is planning a massive attack that could destroy the United States as we know it,” the description reads. While the president is too consumed by his desire to protect his legacy to take decisive action, the hope for solutions increasingly rests on one man’s shoulders: the U.S. Army’s youngest general, Brett Hawthorne.
2. Face Of Betrayal by Lis Wiehl
In this murder mystery, television reporter Cassidy Shaw, federal prosecutor Allison Pierce, and FBI agent Nicole Hedges investigate the death of a teenage Senate page. As the suspect pool gets larger, the three women soon find there is a growing scandal that could rock Washington, D.C. This is the first in her “Triple Threat” crime series.
3. The Anthem by Ayn Rand
A classic story taking place in a post-apocalyptic world where individualism has been erased. One man decides to escape and live for himself. In an age when the Left is pushing collectivism, it remains a timely warning about the dangers of erasing the individual.
4. The Throne of Saturn by Allen Drury
The novel of “space and politics” tells the story of NASA preparing for a mission to Mars, with all of the political infighting leading to poor decision making about the flight crew. The space exploration plan is also plagued by the virtue signaling from Left politicians who are sabotaging the project with demands of diversity quotas and racial politics.
5. The Narrative by Deplora Boule
This is a farcical, satirical novel about an up-and-coming news anchor Majedah, a far-Left feminist who works for a mainstream media outlet more interested in creating a narrative than reporting the news. It is a hilarious criticism of the American press and the machinations that happen behind the scenes.
6. Animal Farm by George Orwell
Orwell’s famous critique of communism. Animals rebel against the farmer who tills the land, after that, the pigs slowly take over with a totalitarian regime. They do it in such a sinister way, the other animals do not realize it is happening until it is too late.
7. Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 by Richard Paul Evans
Have a teenager looking for a good book? Check out this series about a group of teens with extraordinary electrical powers led by the young Michael Vey. The small band is on the run from a corrupt scientist who wants to raise an army to control the world through his experimentation.
8. The Last And The Greatest by Sean Sousa
This science fiction novel sees an arctic robotic army amassing to conquer the Earth. The robot Prince nicknamed Flash, rebels and rescues the one man, Vietnam veteran Brian Renney, to save humanity. Together, they prepare to go against an evil that only they can stop.
9. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The classic novel tells the story of a clash of manners in the era of British Regency. Elizabeth Bennett is from a family of humble earnings while Mr. Darcy is from the upper-class. Their first impressions are far from pleasant, but romance soon blooms between two very different people.
10. Ideal by Ayn Rand
Based on an unpublished play by the Objectivist thinker, this novella tells the story of a Hollywood actress on the run after being implicated in a murder. She encounters a fan, a preacher, a fellow artist, and a host of others who want to use her fame for their own ends as she is avoiding the police.
11. There Will Be Dragons by John Ringo
The first in the “Council Wars” series, a future technological utopia Earth is thrown into chaos when a civil war breaks out. All technology is shut down and Earth is thrown back to the stone age. Survivalist Edmund Talbot finds himself a leader in this new world. He trains a new army, teaches people to farm, all while fighting off the growing hordes of violent tribes who want to take advantage of the war and conquer.
12. Getting It Right by William F. Buckley, Jr.
This novel looks at the founding of the John Birch Society and Ayn Rand’s Objectivist movement through the eyes of fictional characters who are caught in the middle of the Conservative movement’s formation. It follows through the end of the Second World War and through the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Jr. as the growing right-wing movement is still experiencing growing pains during the twentieth century.
13. The Lord Of The Rings by JRR Tolkien
The fantasy trilogy comprised of “The Fellowship Of The Ring,” “The Two Towers,” and “Return Of The King” tells the story of the Fellowship, a band of Hobbits, humans, an elf, and a dwarf who are trying to stop a dark evil from using an all-powerful ring that could conquer the world of Middle Earth. It is a classic tale of good versus evil and a throwback to an era of knights, made popular by the film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson.
14. Sidequest: In Realms Ungoogled by Frank J. Fleming
Computer analyst Terrance Denby takes an unusual route to work and is given a sword by fairies. He is caught off guard by the experience, but even more shocked that there is a whole other world that goes ignored. He soon finds that his boss is a demon, his girlfriend slaughters villagers, and his office does human sacrifices during ’empowerment’ seminars. Terrance soon finds he has to chose between living a normal life and fighting evil.
15. Werewolf Cop by Andrew Klavan
This novel tells the story of highly-decorated homicide detective Zach “Cowboy” Adams. His life changes after an encounter with an otherworldly beast while hunting for a killer. Zach now has become a killer like the very ones who chases and he knows he will kill again, unless he can stop the growing evil inside him.
