Generally, when the leftwing media wants to push a cause, they find a cipher, a third-party to raise the issue on their behalf. An example would be ObamaCare. The media is desperate to save Obama's legacy, so in order to do so -- while ignoring the millions hurt by the failed program -- the MSM will dishonestly cherry-pick individuals who like ObamaCare, and blow up their stories. Disguising agenda-pushing behind the imprimatur of a personal story is, as any media-watcher knows, an all-too common practice.
What is so shocking about The Hollywood Reporter's (THR) McCarthyite push to punish comedian Steve Harvey for daring to meet with Trump, is that the act was so brazen. They did not even bother to hide behind an offended party.
On Friday, Harvey met personally with President-elect Trump at Trump Tower. Incoming HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson was part of the meeting (via telephone) and, according to Harvey's statement, the three men discussed inner-city poverty and housing (a top Trump priority).
It is no coincidence, then, that on that very same day, The Hollywood Reporter fired the following warning shot across Harvey's bow…
Last week, Steve Harvey aired a segment on his eponymous syndicated talk show about obscure, absurdly specific advice books. These were niche interest titles like Dating for Under a Dollar: 301 Ideas and How to Date a White Woman: A Practical Guide for Asian Men.
The audience laughed at the latter book in anticipation as Harvey took 15 seconds to gather himself. “That’s one page,” he finally gasped. “’Excuse me, do you like Asian men?’ ‘No.’ ‘Thank you.’”
There is a lot to unpack here, but let's start with the fact that THR could not even find a cipher to hide behind. The article is written by THR staffer Rebecca Sun, and does not even include a tweet written by an offended party.
Well, the reason, obviously, is that THR intends to punish and Blacklist anyone who dares support or legitimize Trump.
In the 1950s, this was called McCarthyism.
Over the last year, THR has made absolutely no secret of their seething hatred for Trump. Therefore, in their eyes, by meeting with the President-elect, Harvey (especially as a black man) is a runaway from the ThoughtPlantation, so he must be punished. And what better way to do so than to publicly attack him as a racist?
Moreover, what THR did is primarily meant to be a warning to others, a warning that says in no uncertain terms, If you legitimize Trump in any way, we will use our awesome corporate power to destroy your career.
Also of note: Like the rest of the national media, THR sure as hell isn't standing up for the artists forced by death threats to cancel their performances at Trump's Friday Inauguration.
Finally, THR is just engaging in more of the left's politically correct Thought-Policing.
If any publication in America should be out there defiantly protecting free speech -- most especially a comedian's free speech, most especially a comedian's right to be offensive -- it should be THR.
But THR is not in favor of artistic freedom.
Instead, through corporate bullying, the publication has assumed the McCarthyite role of policing speech, setting the rules of which jokes are and are not approved, what kind of speech is and is not authorized…
The preening, little SJW fascist who wrote the THR hit-piece, even told Harvey how he is supposed to think about the book Harvey was riffing on:
Problem is, he didn’t actually manage to hit any of the eminently mockable aspects of the book, from its predatory creepiness to its own racist profiling (of white women).
But what is primarily at work here is outright Blacklisting.
THR is sending the not-so-subtle message that if you dare not act or think in the politically approved ways, The Hollywood Reporter will launch a campaign to personally destroy you…
Hey, that's a nice career you got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it…
P.S. By Monday, THR's campaign to generate hate against Harvey began to take off.
