Ever had a horrible landlord and thought, “Man, someone should just take this building away from them”? Well congratulations, because that’s what NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani wants to do.Mamdani says that buildings suffering from “chronic neglect” could be taken from current owners and transferred to “responsible stewards” — meaning community land trusts, nonprofits, or even the tenants themselves — all in the name of creating more affordable housing in New York City. And if history has taught us anything, it’s that governments deciding who deserves to own property has NEVER gone horribly wrong… right? If we haven't learned anything from history, let me tell you, this is a TERRIBLE idea. Hey but maybe I’m wrong, let me know in the comments…
