January 3, 2026, will go down in history as the day Venezuelans recovered something many had believed lost: hope.
That hope did not come from abstract promises, but from the capture of dictator Nicolás Maduro — the first sign in decades that Venezuela may veer off the trajectory of authoritarian rule, <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/700568/decade-distress-clouds-venezuela-future.aspx">economic collapse</a>, and <a href="https://www.unrefugees.org/emergencies/venezuela/#:~:text=About%20the%20Crisis%20in%20Venezuela&amp;text=The%20humanitarian%20crisis%20in%20Venezuela,Latin%20America%20and%20the%20Caribbean.">mass exile</a> that has defined the country for 26 years.
Despite this renewed optimism, many critics of the Trump administration have suggested the operation was somehow unethical or misguided.
Those critics miss the point entirely. Toppling Maduro has paved the way for long-term stability grounded in free-market capitalism and the rule of law to take root in Venezuela. If these forces are allowed to flourish, they will reshape the military, political, and economic structures that guide the country, and allow Venezuela to fully re-enter the global community.
It is no accident that authoritarians controlled Venezuela for as long as they did. To topple a regime from the inside, you need either a massive popular uprising or some kind of military coup. Maduro made sure both were impossible in Venezuela.
A 2013 law banned the sale of firearms and ammunition to civilians and imposes prison sentences of up to 20 years for unauthorized possession. Over the past decade, the Maduro regime aggressively <a href="https://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/Latin-America-Monitor/2013/0807/Gun-control-Can-Venezuela-regulate-the-flow-of-arms">disarmed the population</a>, ensuring that ordinary citizens have no means to resist a usurping government or defend a democratic transition.
That means no uprising would succeed without the military’s involvement. Which is why in recent years Maduro expanded the Venezuelan officer corps, which reportedly boasts over <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/maduro-is-out-its-unclear-who-is-running-venezuela-2026-01-04/">2,000 generals and admirals</a> — more than double the number in the United States.
In a system saturated with generals, no single faction can act decisively without broad internal backing. Plotting a coup becomes exponentially harder when success requires the loyalty of dozens, if not hundreds, of senior figures rather than a centralized command.
And, because so many of those officers have been <a href="https://www.occrp.org/en/project/revolution-to-riches/how-venezuela-bought-military-loyalty?utm_source=chatgpt.com">rewarded</a> with lucrative posts or interests in vast sectors of the economy, it would be difficult for an opposition faction or reform-minded general to rally enough support within the officer corps to mount a successful coup.
Fortunately, the fact that the Venezuelan military is more a patronage program than a fighting force allowed American forces to topple Maduro in just 88 minutes.
That was a major step in the right direction, but hardly a guarantee of future success.
Even with Maduro gone, any Venezuelan regime that hopes to endure will need the military’s buy-in. And because Maduro spent years purchasing officers’ loyalty, it won’t be easy for an opposition leader to swoop in and take control.
That’s why Maduro’s de facto vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, was left in power after Maduro’s capture. Many expected opposition leader María Corina Machado — whose coalition overwhelmingly won the <a href="https://ar.usembassy.gov/assessing-the-results-of-venezuelas-presidential-election/">2024 elections</a> — to assume leadership. Instead, President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/01/05/us/politics/trump-venezuela-machado.html">declined to back her</a>, arguing she lacked sufficient internal support.
Allowing Rodríguez to serve as a temporary bridge likely reduces the number of officers required to defect at once, lowering the coordination threshold needed to maintain stability. And, at a time when the American body politic is highly suspicious of “regime change” and “forever wars,” respecting this reality ostensibly diminishes the need for troops on the ground.
Moreover, immediate installation would have been politically toxic for Machado. A staunch defender of democratic rule, she must earn her mandate from Venezuelans, not appear as a foreign appointee marching into Miraflores on the heels of American troops.
If Machado is to translate political momentum into lasting change, she will need to leverage Venezuela’s greatest asset: its oil reserves. The country holds an estimated <a href="https://www.opec.org/assets/assetdb/asb-2025.pdf">300 billion barrels of proven reserves</a>, the largest in the world.
But Venezuela’s oil is not an easy prize. Most of it is <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/business/2026/jan/05/venezuelan-crude-oil-appeals-to-us-refineries">heavy or extra-heavy crude</a> — dense, sulfur-rich, and costly to extract, transport, and refine. <a href="https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/dispatches/what-it-takes-to-revive-venezuelas-oil-and-gas-industry/">Oil production has fallen</a> from roughly 3.2 million barrels per day in 2000 to about 1 million today, and <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-big-oil-has-a-long-road-ahead-in-venezuela-the-fallen-angel-of-global-crude-markets-192628377.html">experts agree</a> that rebuilding lost capacity will take years of sustained investment and technical rehabilitation.
Reviving the sector will require tens of billions of dollars in <a href="https://www.cfr.org/expert-brief/increasing-venezuelas-oil-output-will-take-several-years-and-billions-dollars">long-term investment</a>. But American companies will not make multi-billion-dollar investments based on speeches, personalities, or election cycles. They will invest if they believe the rules of the game will endure. In this sense, Venezuela’s recovery is inseparable from free-market reform and the rule of law.
This is why the transition underway is about far more than replacing one leader with another. It is about replacing an economic model. Venezuela’s oil sector — and its broader economy — cannot recover without sustained private investment, and sustained private investment requires credible commitment to free-market capitalism, property rights, and the rule of law. Anything less signals instability and thus keeps capital on the sidelines.
Incentives are aligned in a rare and encouraging way. American companies want stability, predictability, and enforceable contracts. Venezuelans want lasting freedom, prosperity, and insulation from the return of authoritarian socialism. Both depend on the same outcome: a durable shift away from state control and toward a market-based system that cannot be easily undone. The more Venezuela commits to capitalism, the safer long-term investment becomes. And the more capital flows in, the harder it becomes for any future government to reverse course without catastrophic cost.
That alignment matters. It creates a feedback loop in which economic openness reinforces political durability, and political durability reinforces economic confidence. This — not ideology, not personality, and not short-term geopolitics — is the most important driver of Venezuela’s future.
Venezuela’s trajectory depends on balancing three forces: military power, political legitimacy, and market-driven recovery. Mismanaging any one of them risks collapse. The United States and its allies must avoid the temptation to pursue oil while tolerating authoritarian continuity. That path would only produce a new class of kleptocrats.
Done correctly, however, this moment offers a rare alignment of interests. Venezuelans want dignity and self-government. Investors want stability and lawful capitalism. And the United States has an opportunity to support a transition that is neither naïve nor imperial, but grounded in realism.
The door is open. What comes next will decide whether hope can walk through it and materialize as the liberty and prosperity millions of Venezuelans, like myself, have been praying, yearning, and working for decades.

With Maduro Gone, Will Venezuelans Choose Freedom?

A Jewish Israeli student at Columbia University said he was attacked on campus by a pro-Palestinan activist who was tearing down fliers raising awareness about Israelis who have been taken hostage by Hamas. 
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Wire, the student, whose identity was confirmed but asked to remain anonymous, said that the physical altercation occurred after the attacker started tearing down the posters with the victims’ faces. The student said he suffered a broken finger, as well as bruising from the attack. 
“As an Israeli Jewish student, I don’t feel safe going to campus anymore, which was promised to be a safe haven,” the student told The Daily Wire. 
He said at the time of the incident, he was trying to raise awareness for the victims of Hamas attacks on innocent Israeli civilians by hanging posters displaying the terrorist group’s hostages’ pictures on campus. An image obtained by The Daily Wire shows one such poster, allegedly torn in half by the anti-Israel activist, displaying a “Young Israeli Couple.” The upper part of the flier read, “Kidnapped from their home by Hamas.”

The student said the alleged attacker was carrying a wooden stick and used it in the assault. 
“My friend and I went to him while he was tearing down posters we just hung asking him to stop and then he pushed me,” the student wrote to The Daily Wire. “I tried taking our posters and he hit me with that piece of wood.”

In a written statement, the NYPD told The Daily Wire that the attacker was a &#8220;19-year-old female&#8221; and confirmed that officers responded to an &#8220;assault in progress,&#8221; adding, &#8220;Upon arrival, officers were informed that the victim, a 24-year-old male, was engaged in a dispute with an unknown individual.”
The statement further confirms that “the dispute became physical and the individual struck the victim in the hand with a wooden stick,” and that the individual was taken into custody.
According to NYPD, 19-year-old Maxwell Friedman was charged with assault.
Columbia University Public Safety confirmed to The Daily Wire that there had been an incident on campus and that an arrest ensued. The campus police force did not confirm whether the attack in question was caused by religious motives.
The alleged attacker, who was later arrested by law enforcement, appeared to be wearing a bandana to cover his face. In their <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CyOchi8ukL2/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announcement</a> for an upcoming protest organized by the Columbia chapter of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), the organization tells its followers, “DO wear red/black/green and consider wearing face coverings for safety from doxxing.”
The student told The Daily Wire that he and his friends decided to take out their phones to document the incident because this isn’t the first time they’d faced violence on campus. One of his friends said he was spat on for speaking Hebrew on campus, and later told that nothing could be done about it due to the lack of photographic evidence. 
“A picture is worth a thousand words,” the student said.

The student told The Daily Wire that Amber Griffiths, Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Wellbeing for Columbia’s School of General Studies, contacted him Wednesday to discuss the incident. 
According to the student, “she was shocked” and “did not know how to respond.” 

On the call, the student claims, he informed the dean of how unsafe he and other Jewish students felt on campus, and that he was no longer planning on going to class the following days. He said he also pointed out that SJP was <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CyOchi8ukL2/?hl=en">planning</a> on hosting a rally on campus the following day, and that this story would be minuscule in comparison to the violence he feared would ensue. 
The Columbia SJP <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CyKl_-EOoqX/?hl=en&amp;img_index=6">condemned</a> General Studies Dean Lisa Rosen-Metsch for an email that “victimized Israeli soldiers who uphold the occupation,” and “obfuscated Palestinian resistance as ‘terrorism.’”
The student said that he wished Columbia and other universities would do more to protect Jewish students from violence. 
“I wish academic institutes would take a stance against anti-Zionist and anti-Semitic violence to make Israelis and Jewish students like me feel safe on their campuses around the United States,” he said.
Hours after the attack, some Columbia University students started posting about the events on Sidechat, an online forum only accessible to those with a university email address. The chat appears to confirm that the pro-Palestinian activist was arrested, as well as many of the details of the attack.

Some students, however, tried to blame the Jewish students, claiming it was they who started the altercation and that the activist shouldn’t have been arrested because of his race. 
One such comment claimed “counter protestors had a BLACK pro-Palestinian arrested for putting up fliers. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE.” 
“Students who don’t stand with the black student arrested rn, let’s be clear, you’re racist so sadly,” another commenter said.
Others demonized the Jewish students for getting the police involved. “Maybe you should recognize that a group of white people decided of their own volition to involve the NYPD in a situation against 1 singular black person,” a commenter wrote. “That is an act of violence.&#8221; 
Columbia did not respond to a request for comment on the incident. Anti-Israel activists are planning a national “Day of Resistance” on Thursday to rally support for Palestinians.

‘Don’t Feel Safe’: Jewish Columbia Student Says He Was Attacked By Pro-Palestinian Activist

PHILADELPHIA — Anti-Israel activists gathered Sunday in Philadelphia in a rally organized by the <a href="https://www.instagram.com/phillypalestinecoalition/?img_index=8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Philly Palestine Coalition</a> to proclaim their support for the Saturday <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-israel-declares-state-of-war-as-palestinian-terrorists-launch-massive-surprise-attack-on-jewish-holiday" target="_blank" rel="noopener">terrorist attack</a> on Israel, stating that they were “proud” to see Hamas slaughter Israeli civilians.
Around 220 people <a href="https://www.inquirer.com/news/israel-palestine-philadelphia-jewish-federaltion-philly-coalition-20231008.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">participated</a> in the so-called “emergency solidarity rally” in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square where speakers proclaimed, “All of us here, standing today, are proud of what has occurred yesterday.”
According to its organizers, Hamas’ actions were “justified,” because “when people are occupied, resistance is justified.”

This demonstration was, according to a spokesperson for the coalition, “not just about Palestine. It was about all oppressed people.”
One speaker drew a comparison between Hamas’ attacks on Israel and the plight of Black American slaves, claiming, “To get to the point where things had to happen like they happened yesterday, when the colonizers woke up and they felt the same kind of pressure that black people in this country put down on their slave masters when they woke up.”

The rally also had characteristics similar to other liberal protests in recent years, such as anti-police demonstrations carried out by Black Lives Matter and Antifa. Protesters could be seen promoting other activist causes, including one man who attempted to block this reporter&#8217;s ability to film the rally wearing a hat with the letters “ACAB,” which stands for “All Cops Are Bastards.”
Event organizers wore masks to cover their faces, and used their hands to prevent those who did not agree with their ideology from filming the rally.

When asked why they were so adamant in preventing video footage of this event from spreading, activists used bicycles to prevent this reporter’s passage through the public park where the rally commenced and remained silent. “I have a First Amendment right to do whatever the f*** I want,” one protester responded.

Signs stating that “Zionism Is Racism” could be seen throughout the event. This widely-used slogan refers to United Nations Resolution 3379 in 1975, in which the General Assembly linked Zionism to racial discrimination. This was overturned in 1991, making it one of only two resolutions ever revoked by the U.N.
Activists also chanted that Palestinians should control the land “from the river to the sea,” a phrase used to call for the destruction of Israel. Activists held signs telling the Jewish people that their “time is up.”
Referred to as “freedom fighters” by individuals present at Sunday&#8217;s protest, Hamas is an Islamist terrorist militant group that took over the Gaza Strip in 2006. The United States and European Union have designated Hamas a terrorist organization.
Hamas took several hostages back into the Gaza Strip, including American citizens, <a href="https://www.haaretz.com/israel-news/2023-10-08/ty-article/.premium/israels-un-ambassador-says-dozens-of-u-s-citizens-held-hostage-in-gaza/0000018b-1009-d3a8-afeb-930bb7420000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according</a> to Israel&#8217;s ambassador to the U.S. On Monday, the terrorist group said it will start executing them in front of cameras.

‘Proud Of What Has Occurred’: Scenes From Inside Philadelphia’s Pro-Hamas Rally

Growing up in Venezuela, a country deeply afflicted by anarchy and corruption, taught me just how important a free marketplace of ideas is to the very foundation of a prosperous society.
The notion that conflicting opinions and opposition ought to be encouraged, not persecuted, seemed revolutionary to a teenager moving to the United States. Just how those states managed to stay united, despite there being open conversations about governmental misdoings, was something my mind could not comprehend at the time.
Contrasting this practice to the countless hours my childhood memories showed of Hugo Chavez’s infamous “cadenas nacionales” – times when my country’s dictator <a href="https://www.clarin.com/mundo/venezuela-chavismo-interrumpir-conferencia-capriles_0_r1GMj9_sDQe.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interrupted</a> every national media broadcast and forced all citizens to watch him – left me in a dizzying state of awe.
Freedom of speech is one of the most important civil rights in a democratic society. By promoting autonomy and self-expression, it enables citizens to exercise critical scrutiny in the formation of a public opinion that keeps the governing body in check. Yet, in the past few years, the evolution of social media as a platform for speech has introduced a new and unknown variable into the public discourse equation.
Subsequent attempts by those very platforms at imposing restrictions on public rhetoric have shown one side on the political spectrum being pitted against the other, with seemingly arbitrary decisions being made without further explanations. The same companies who claim the First Amendment acts as their guiding compass seem to struggle with the distinction that ought to be made between a platform and a publisher.
It came as no surprise, then, that when Elon Musk finally announced his take over of Twitter, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/extremely-messed-up-elon-musk-blasts-activist-groups-for-pushing-advertisers-to-ditch-twitter-destroy-free-speech-in-america">the internet erupted into chaos</a>. Musk, who calls himself a “free speech absolutist,” has explained that free speech to him is “that which matches the law.”
“If people want less free speech,” he <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1519036983137509376?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reasoned</a> on Twitter, “they will ask government to pass laws to that effect.”
John Stuart Mill’s classic &#8220;<a href="https://www.amazon.com/Liberty-Dover-Thrift-Editions/dp/0486421309/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=&amp;sr=" target="_blank" rel="noopener">On Liberty</a>&#8220; provides a conception of personal freedom, harm, and freedom of expression that has extended considerable influence on modern First Amendment jurisprudence – the base upon which the law Musk refers to is based.
By presenting an evolving understanding of the meaning of freedom itself, Mill inspires a “marketplace of ideas” in which truth is not deterred by leaders or censorship, but enhanced by diversity of opinion, dissent, and challenges to orthodoxy.
He contends that the organic true self is “not a machine to be built after a model,” but a living thing that must be protected from both governmental tyranny and societal conformity. In this sense, freedom is not exclusively valuable in an instrumental capacity, but it presents choices and expression as a form of self-creation with profound moral significance.
Mill’s defense of freedom of thought provides an argument both promoting the marketplace of ideas and opposing governmental and societal suppression centered around three main contentions.
First, because there is no single individual who knows the truth, restricting an idea may entail censoring the truth.
Second, the best path towards arriving at this truth is through free competition of ideas. If a certain conclusion is unable to withstand the weight of a challenge, then it should not be deemed true in the first place.
Finally, because no one idea is the sum of the truth, even those suggestions containing only a portion of the truth can help society acquire knowledge. In this sense, falsehoods offer value, as they both test the truth and prevent it from becoming a dogma.
Therefore, Mill contends, the pursuit of truth should be directed by an exchange of ideas that empowers individuality against the coercion of social conventions.
 Much like Musk, he believes in a free marketplace of ideas in which individual participants are allowed to organically determine their own rules and regulations, without the need for arbitrary restrictions to be imposed by inexperienced third parties.
This doctrine has arguably shaped modern free speech jurisprudence, as Mill’s harm principle’s determination that speech may only be limited when it causes a direct and clear violation of rights is reflected in standard First Amendment applications and common law cases.
This was best exemplified in the case of <a href="https://law.justia.com/cases/illinois/supreme-court/1978/49769-6.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Village of Skokie v. National Socialist Party of America</a>, where the Illinois Supreme Court held that a display of swastikas did not constitute “fighting words,” meaning that it was not likely to incite immediate violence or retaliation, and its restriction was therefore unconstitutional. 
This evaluation of whether an expression will result in imminent lawless action found in the American legal system represents Mill’s legacy: “public expression of ideas may not be prohibited merely because the ideas are themselves offensive to some of their hearers.”
However, it is important to consider that if Mill’s principle is used as the base for limiting speech, very few prohibitions will result. Since restriction is only warranted when a direct harm can be demonstrated, this will potentially translate into only cases implicating specific individuals or tangible consequences getting checked.
Thus, as Elon Musk ventures out to reimagine a world in which social media promotes “absolute” freedom of speech, this same struggle for balance between safety and liberty is bound to present a challenge.
Whatever the case, it is imperative that the United States maintain the same course towards freedom of thought and diversity of opinion that has allowed this nation to adopt such an extraordinary role in history.
I already had to leave my country. If this one fails, I don’t know where I’ll go.

LONDON &#8211; On a fittingly gloomy day, thousands filled the streets of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/london" target="_blank" rel="noopener">London</a> on Monday to say goodbye to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/queen-elizabeth" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II,</a> in hopes of seeing her casket carried through the city as part of the royal procession for her <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/united-kingdom" target="_blank" rel="noopener">grand state funeral</a>.
The Queen’s casket first <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-60617519" target="_blank" rel="noopener">departed</a> from Westminster Hall, where she had been lying in state, to Westminster Abbey. At the Abbey, the Queen received a funeral service attended by 2,000 individuals, including heads of state from around the globe. President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden were in attendance.
Throngs of people from around the United Kingdom began lining up Sunday night to secure a spot in the crowd to say their final goodbyes to the monarch who served her country for 70 years on the throne. Many began making preparations for this historic day as soon as they heard she had passed away on September 8.
One wife and husband donning a dress and suit, respectively, told The Daily Wire that they woke up at 3:00 am to make the trip to see the Queen’s coffin.
“When the news broke that she had died, we spoke as a family, and without any hesitation, we booked the trains to be here,” the husband said.
When asked if the state funeral could compare to any other event in the United Kingdom, the man added that he and his wife had seen “nothing like this. But it’s an experience for us all.”
When asked how they felt about the monarchy in general, the pair remarked they were “proud. Very proud.”
“Our children are proud,” the husband added. “And [the monarch] will carry on.&#8221;
The entire city appeared to be dressed in black for the somber day as accents from all over the U.K. could be heard praying or crying. Most of the crowd was silent in reverent observance of the ceremony, with many “shushing” those who attempted to speak.
Even those who don’t necessarily support the royal family came to pay their respects to the dearly departed leader.
Throughout the procession, the city seemed to be at a standstill. No cafe, restaurant, or shop has opened its doors today.
One visitor from Germany, a 23-year-old named Nicholas, told The Daily Wire that he happened to have three trips planned to London before the Queen passed away. He also wasn’t planning on attending but did so and remarked the city-wide mourning was “an amazing thing to see.”
“We obviously don’t have these kinds of things in Germany,” he added. “I didn’t expect it to be such a huge thing. Not to be in poor taste, but it’s kind of like a festival almost. It doesn’t really feel like a funeral.”
When asked how Germany reacted to the Queen’s death, he remarked, “Everybody felt it.”
As of press time, the Queen’s casket had <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/live-news/queen-elizabeth-ii-funeral-king-charles-iii-royal-family-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrived</a> at Windsor Castle for her burial at St. George’s Chapel.

LONDON – The British capital city is poised to host hundreds of thousands of travelers and some of the world&#8217;s most influential people in anticipation of Queen Elizabeth II’s historic state funeral next week. 
The funeral ceremony, set to take place at Westminster Abbey on September 19, will bring together a diverse group of royals and politicians, including U.S. President Joe Biden and Japanese Emperor Naruhito. All of them will unite to pay tribute to Britain’s longest-serving monarch, who died last Thursday at the age of 96 of unspecified causes. 
The funeral day will be a bank holiday, and an unprecedented crowd of 750,000 travelers is <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/sep/12/london-transport-queens-funeral-rail-tfl-westminster-hall">expected</a> to gather at the Abbey to witness her majesty’s procession. The church hosted the Queen’s marriage to Prince Philip in 1947 and her coronation in 1953.

The funeral will begin with the queen’s coffin being carried from Westminster Hall to Westminster Abbey on the State Gun Carriage of the Royal Navy. Following the service, the coffin will be drawn in a walking procession to Wellington Arch, at London&#8217;s Hyde Park Corner, before reaching its destination at St. George&#8217;s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
British officials have warned that the guest list will be extremely limited. 
The White House confirmed Sunday that President Joe Biden will attend with the first lady, but won’t bring a delegation with him. “Her legacy will loom large in the pages of British history, and in the story of our world,” Biden said in a statement praising the queen’s diplomacy.

The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) said in documents obtained by Politico that it “regrets that, because of limited space at the state funeral service and associated events, no other members of the principal guest’s family, staff or entourage may be admitted.” Strict protocols and regulations will also be in place for foreign dignitaries, and private flights, and the use of helicopter transport from London-Heathrow airport will not be permitted. 
According to the guidance, Politico reported, heads of state should plan to arrive at other London airports if the use of commercial flights is unfeasible. To “reduce disruption and transit time at airports,” the rules continue, accompanying delegations should be kept “as small as possible.”
These restrictions will extend to London’s streets, as international leaders will not be allowed to travel to the funeral in their own private vehicles. Instead, they will meet at a separate location where they will be provided with coach transport. 
Visiting diplomats will not be provided any “Autocue or makeup facilities.”
In addition to the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Princess Royal, the Duke of York, and the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the late Queen’s grandchildren, Prince William, and Prince Harry, will be present at the event.

Other European monarchs set to attend include members of the royal families of Sweden, Denmark, Spain, Norway, Belgium, and the Netherlands. 
The U.K.’s newly inaugurated prime minister, Liz Truss, is expected to make an appearance along with the British Labour party leader, Keir Starmer. Truss, who became British prime minister earlier this month, met with the queen mere days before her death. 
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, and Japan’s Emperor Naruhito are all scheduled to pay their respects. 
Foreign Secretary James Cleverly is expected to host a reception for these distinguished guests following the Westminster Abbey ceremony.

LONDON &#8212; A crowd in front of Buckingham Palace broke out singing &#8220;God Save The Queen&#8221; following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history.
The queen died Thursday at Balmoral, in Scotland, with her family gathered at her side. For decades her impact on the British people was incalculable, and 500 miles south, in London, people reacted to her death with sobs, silence, and confusion. Within an hour of the announcement, thousands appeared to have gathered outside Buckingham Palace.

The city of London is bracing for a transition they haven&#8217;t seen in seven decades, when the late queen became monarch following the death of her father. As ruler, Queen Elizabeth II was known around the world, and her successor will undoubtedly not reign as long as she did. &#8220;She&#8217;s bound so many people across generations,&#8221; one man outside the palace, in his 20s, told The Daily Wire.
Charlotte, who declined to give her last name, said she believed it was significant that the Queen died in Scotland. &#8220;There&#8217;s quite a lot of differences between us and Scotland, and I just think she has lived her life for our country.&#8221;
Asked what the queen meant to him, Ned, a 23-year-old investment analyst, said, &#8220;the world.&#8221;
Charles, the late queen&#8217;s son, is the heir apparent. A statement posted outside Buckingham Palace refers to the king and his queen consort. In a statement, Prime Minister Liz Truss referred to him as King Charles III.
Many in the crowd outside the palace wear cry or pray or talk about the queen&#8217;s legacy.
&#8220;With her spans the history of modern Britain and everything it stands for,&#8221; another man told The Daily Wire.
Mark, a 26-year-old accountant who moved to England from Brazil, said the queen to him represented a new life, and that it will be difficult for the country to adjust.
&#8220;Everyone here, as long as they&#8217;ve been in this country, majority of them have known the queen to be there,&#8221; he said. &#8220;So for it to come to an end today is pretty upsetting.&#8221;

President Joe Biden’s long-time advisor and White House communications director, Kate Bedingfield, is leaving the White House and joining the slew of communications officials parting ties with the administration ahead of the midterm elections.
Bedingfield’s tenure as a top aide to Biden dates back to her role as his communications director during Biden&#8217;s second term as vice president under Barack Obama. She was an instrumental player in his Presidential election, acting as deputy campaign manager throughout his 2020 bid.
&#8220;She has played a huge role in everything the President has achieved – from his second term as Vice President, through the campaign, and since coming to the White House,&#8221; Biden’s Chief of Staff Ron Klain said in a statement.
Bedingfield began her role as White House communications director at the start of Biden’s presidency and has since been credited with having a considerable impact on the execution of the Biden administration’s agenda.
&#8220;Without Kate Bedingfield&#8217;s talent and tenacity, Donald Trump might still be in the White House, the Rescue Plan and the Infrastructure Law might still be unrealized goals, and Ketanji Brown Jackson might not be sitting on the Supreme Court,&#8221; Klain continued.
White House officials have attributed her departure to her desire to “spend more time with her husband and two young children,” ABC News <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/bidens-communications-director-kate-bedingfield-leaving-white-house/story?id=86327946">reported</a>. She is expected to continue to provide counsel to the White House from outside Pennsylvania Avenue.
&#8220;Her strategic acumen, intense devotion to the President&#8217;s agenda, and fierce work on his behalf are unmatched,” Klain stated. “She will continue to remain a critical player in moving the Biden agenda forward from the outside.&#8221;
Bedingfield’s exit comes as the Biden administration faces historic inflation rates and declining approval ratings, all while the country prepares for the upcoming November midterm elections.
Her departure from the White House mirrors recent moves made by fellow communications staffers, such as former Press Secretary Jen Psaki and Deputy Communications Director Pili Tobar. Other lower-level press aides have also left the White House in the past two months.
Though Bedingfield&#8217;s successor remains under speculation, it is certain that the Biden administration must now add finding replacements for several members of its communications department to its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/you-take-your-seat-bidens-notecard-has-step-by-step-instructions-for-everything-like-walking-into-room-and-sitting-down">notecard</a>.

A German regional court handed a 101-year-old man who served as a Nazi guard a five-year prison sentence on Tuesday. 
The defendant, identified by local media only as Josef S., was charged with 3,518 counts of accessory to murder related to crimes carried out in the Nazi concentration camp Sachsenhausen during World War II.
The man had previously denied involvement with the SS, the Nazi organization tasked with running intelligence operations and concentration camps, and aiding and abetting the murder of thousands of prisoners.
“I am innocent,” the centenarian stated during his second day of the trial back in October. He went on to claim that he had worked as a farm laborer in northeastern Germany between 1942 and 1945, the period in question. 
However, the Neuruppin court found that he had worked at the camp as a member of the Nazi paramilitary wing based on documents relating to an SS guard with the man’s name, date, and place of birth introduced by the prosecution. 
&#8220;The court has come to the conclusion that, contrary to what you claim, you worked in the concentration camp as a guard for about three years,&#8221; said Judge Udo Lechtermann, according to the German news agency dpa. &#8220;You willingly supported this mass extermination with your activity.&#8221; 
The trial was held in a gymnasium in Brandenburg an der Havel, near the defendant’s place of residence. His advanced age led to several interruptions caused by health complications and hospital stays, and he could only stand trial for several hours a day. 
Sachsenhausen was established in 1936 as the first camp created after Adolf Hitler relegated complete control of the Nazi concentration camp system to the SS. More than 200,000 people were imprisoned in Sachsenhausen between 1936 and 1945, with tens of thousands being killed due to hunger, disease, forced industrial labor, and medical experiments. 
Tuesday&#8217;s verdict relies on recent German legal precedent, dating back to 2011, establishing that those who helped a Nazi camp function may be prosecuted for accessory to murder.
Since then, courts have sentenced several people using the precedent.

Although a cause of death was not specified, his office did <a href="https://twitter.com/rollcall/status/1505000941153656838">reveal</a> that he passed away “while traveling home to Alaska to be with the state and people that he loved.”
When responding to the show’s invitation, Brown clarified that Young’s appearance would simply be impossible and acknowledged the touching tribute they had done in the congressman’s memory. 
“Sadly Congressman Young passed away in March, but you all did a lovely tribute to him!” Brown <a href="https://twitter.com/ZackBrownDC/status/1535028149624492056">wrote</a>. 
Throughout his lengthy career, Young’s vision centered around providing citizens with the “opportunity for a better life not just for today, but also for tomorrow and the future,” as detailed by his <a href="https://ak00forms.house.gov/biography/">official biography</a>. This led him to receive a number of career recognitions, including the Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) “Hero of the Taxpayer” award in 2008 for voting with taxpayers on 85% or more of the issues tracked by ATR.
While reflecting on his former boss’ career, Brown pointed out that “Congressman Young has not only passed two of his bills through the House from beyond the grave&#8230;.but he&#8217;s also getting Meet the Press booking requests as well.” This, he concluded, amounts to “A successful post-life career by any measure.”
Twitter users responded with amusement to Brown’s posts about the situation. 
“If they pull that off it would be the greatest booking of all time,” replied Fox 5 News anchor Tom Fitzgerald.
