The House Ethics Committee determined that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) broke ethics rules by accepting gifts during her 2021 appearance at the Met Gala — including her infamous “Tax The Rich” dress. 
The Committee found that Ocasio-Cortez “impermissably” accepted a free-admission ticket from her now-fiancé, Riley Roberts, valued at approximately $35,000. 
She also did not pay the full market price for certain items she wore to the Gala. Her white Brother Vellies dress, which had “Tax The Rich” written in crude letters on the back, cost $3,724 to rent, yet she paid only $990 for it. 
An investigation into her attendance was opened in December 2022 after the American Accountability Foundation filed an ethics complaint. Experts revealed that her donning borrowed items violated House rules, which bar lawmakers from receiving gifts like free attendance to events and travel. 
The three-year investigation “did not find evidence” that Ocasio-Cortez intentionally underpaid for the apparel, <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/25/us-news/aoc-broke-house-rules-to-attend-met-gala-with-beau-riley-roberts-told-to-pay-additional-2700-for-tax-the-rich-gown-other-accessories/">according to</a> the New York Post. However, she placed some blame on her staff, who, vendors claim, delayed payment.
One of her bills to a hairstylist— which amounted to $477.73 — stayed underpaid for nearly half a year and led to a “complaint with the NY Dept of Labor against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress,” says the Committee’s <a href="https://ethics.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/07/Committee-Report-20250725-Rep.-Ocasio-Cortez.pdf">report</a>. 
“[T]he Committee determined that no sanction was merited, provided Representative Ocasio-Cortez: (1) donates the $250 value of Mr. Roberts’ Met Gala meal to the Costume Institute and (2) pays Brother Vellies an additional $2,733.28 for the fair market value of the goods that she received in connection with her 2021 Met Gala attendance.”
Mike Casca, chief of staff for Ocasio-Cortez, released a statement regarding the situation: “The Congresswoman appreciates the Committee finding that she made efforts to ensure her compliance with House Rules and sought to act consistently with her ethical requirements as a Member of the House,” he said. “She accepts the ruling and will remedy the remaining amounts, as she’s done at each step in this process.&#8221;

Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche is meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell at the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office in Tallahassee, Florida.
At around 9 a.m. ET, Blanche arrived at the federal courthouse, shaking his head and saying “no” when asked if he had anything to say before his meeting with Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/ghislaine-maxwell-sentenced-20-years-prison-conspiring-jeffrey-epstein-sexually-abuse">sentence</a> for helping Jeffrey Epstein sex traffick young girls. 
It is not clear what Blanche will discuss with her. 
In a statement <a href="https://x.com/AGPamBondi/status/1947622027587723365">posted</a> to X by Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this week, Blanche said that President Donald Trump told them to release “all credible evidence” regarding information about Epstein’s illicit activities. 
“If Ghislaine Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say,” he said. 
This week, Maxwell’s attorney <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/jeffrey-epstein-ghislaine-maxwell-todd-blanche-meeting/">said</a> they were in discussion with the government about a meeting and stated that “Ghislaine will always testify truthfully.” 
Despite this, in 2022, the Department of Justice <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/ghislaine-maxwell-engaged-significant-pattern-dishonest-conduct-doj/story?id=124017081">doubted</a> that Maxwell could be truthful, with court papers accusing her of a pattern of dishonesty and a failure to take accountability for her crimes. Ahead of Maxwell’s trial in 2021, the feds revealed that prosecutors did not consider working out a plea deal with her in exchange for testimony. 
Defense Lawyer Duncan Levin described Blanche’s meeting with Maxwell as unusual. 
“If Todd Blanche, now running the DOJ and formerly Trump’s personal lawyer, is personally meeting with Ghislaine Maxwell in prison, it suggests something far outside the norm,” he said, <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/07/24/us-news/deputy-ag-todd-blanche-will-meet-with-ghislaine-maxwell-within-hours-sources/">according to</a> the New York Post. “This isn’t some career prosecutor following protocol. It’s a direct line from Trump’s inner circle to one of the most infamous inmates in the country.”
The meeting comes just one day after the House Oversight Committee issued a subpoena for Maxwell to address Congress. The deposition will occur at the prison on August 11th, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-subpoenas-epstein-associate-ghislaine-maxwell">reported</a> by The Daily Wire.

Congresswoman Mary Miller is on a quest to keep American children from being exposed to pornography.
Speaking to The Daily Wire Tuesday, the Illinois Republican discussed the SCREEN Act, legislation she introduced that will mandate  “age identification from foreign companies in order to require that the user is 18 or over.”
“Eighty percent of children in our country have access to pornography,” she said. “And a lot of it is by accident. And now they’re seeing the average age of kids who happen onto it is eight years old, so this is a rot in our culture.”
On June 27th, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Texas’ mandate for porn sites to require age verification, setting a precedent for states around the country. Currently, 21 states have similar laws in effect.
“We’ve got a problem because we have low marriage rates, low birth rates,” Miller said. “It is a very serious problem in our country.”
In addition to discussing her fight to protect kids, Miller also addressed the issue of trans-identifying athletes taking over biological women’s spaces, including sports.
“I do think our whole culture has changed in light of, you know, gay marriage and heterosexual marriage,” she remarked. “I think people are kind of squeamish about taking a side on it. But on the transgender thing? That&#8217;s a step too far.”
She expressed her shock that doctors are &#8220;physically mutilating minor children,” and said that it’s “hard to believe” anyone ever allowed it.
“And then to put transgender men in girls&#8217; safe spaces and in their athletics is really taking a side against the safety and opportunity that our girls deserve,” she stated. “I think it was pushing too far, but I just want to encourage people to — everybody has a realm of influence — to look for areas [where] you can be impactful.”
“I think someone that made a huge impact in that was Riley Gaines … [Lia Thomas] was a fully intact male, undressed in her locker room. So she was violated in every way. But, she wasn&#8217;t. She didn&#8217;t remain a victim, right? She turned around and fought hard … I give her credit for really changing the sentiment in the country.”
Another area where Miller advocates for women and girls is making sure they have access to the truth about what abortion procedures entail.
“Whoever controls the information controls the people,” Miller said. “And I thank God for the grassroots movement that&#8217;s been going on for decades in our country, for churches that have been working tirelessly to oppose abortion. But more than that, to inform people.”
“And so I have multiple bills. I want women to be fully informed … I have been told, at least 80% of women, when they see an ultrasound, they change their mind. And so I want to require abortion providers to perform an ultrasound. And they have to inform the woman of the development of the baby and the risks.”
Miller made it clear that a lot of Democrat lawmakers, including the governor in her own state of Illinois, are pro-abortion, not pro-choice.
“They want to cut parents out and allow minors to have abortions through the ninth month with no parental consent. It&#8217;s turned our state into a destination state for taxpayer-funded abortions for minors … That&#8217;s where all the groomers and the pedophiles are bringing the girls if they get pregnant … And you&#8217;re not being dramatic when you say that either,” she said.
Miller, a farmer, said she was “fully supportive” of President Donald Trump’s agenda, especially in agriculture.
“I want to support the family farm and support legislation that helps the farmers thrive and … have a robust trade policy,” she said. “America should be producing its own food. We imported 4 billion pounds of hamburger last year, a lot of it from countries that Americans really don&#8217;t want to be eating their beef.”

House Republicans blocked the Democrats&#8217; move on Monday night that would have forced the Trump administration to release the Jeffrey Epstein files. 
The Democratic amendment to cryptocurrency legislation, first introduced by Congressman Ro Khanna (D-CA), sought to allow Congress to vote on whether the files should be published. It was barred in a 5-7 vote, with all but one of the GOP members of the House Rules Committee voting against the amendment. 
“The question with Epstein is: Whose side are you on?” Khanna <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/07/15/trump-epstein-khanna-doj-democrats-republicans">told</a> Axios ahead of the vote. “Are you on the side of the rich and powerful, or are you on the side of the people?”
He reportedly vowed to introduce the measure “again and again and again.” 
Khanna’s amendment would have required Attorney General Pam Bondi to make all of the files about Epstein available on a “publicly accessible website,” and she would have to comply within 30 days of the procedure’s enactment. 
In a surprise twist, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) voted in favor of the proposed amendment. 
“The public&#8217;s been asking for it,” he said, <a href="https://www.axios.com/2025/07/15/trump-epstein-khanna-doj-democrats-republicans">according</a> to Axios. “I think there are files. All of a sudden not to have files is a little strange. We&#8217;ll see how it plays out. … I think the president will do the right thing.”
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) abstained from the vote. 
Epstein was a convicted child rapist and sex trafficker who had ties to multiple celebrities, billionaires, and politicians. He died in his jail cell in 2019, allegedly having committed suicide, but much of the public remains unconvinced. 
In February, Pam Bondi <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/attorney-general-bondi-under-siege-after-doj-reveals-no-epstein-client-list" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> in an interview with Fox News that the Epstein client list was on her desk, ready for review after being asked by Fox News&#8217; John Roberts about a &#8220;list of Epstein&#8217;s clients.&#8221;
“It’s sitting on my desk right now to review,” she said in response to Roberts. “That’s been a directive by President Trump. I’m reviewing that.” 
Yet, on July 7, Bondi clarified that she meant that the Epstein files were ready for her review, not a client list.  
&#8220;I think most of us believe what&#8217;s appropriate will be released when it is time for the president to release it,&#8221; Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), the chair of the Rules Committee, said.

A majority of young men support restricting access to pornography, according to a new <a href="https://www.americansurveycenter.org/research/a-cultural-crossroads-americas-uncertain-future-amidst-enduring-discontent-and-rising-disconnection/?mkt_tok=NDc1LVBCUS05NzEAAAGbkvewKzlBksy5UkP8DK3ZgRteqCvUlLg6RRzvNoAw09KIInAbzFQuPQL0HeCMPUibHA3Fz92YAMuG_OzHJyBMDqSemLVT1DGE3tV34ZM32Jrf1cE">survey</a> by the Survey Center on American Life.
The survey, which includes a number of different topics concerning the opinions of everyday Americans and their satisfaction with the current state of the country, details the declining support of pornography among Gen Z men.
According to the survey, 64% of men under the age of 25 support making online pornography more difficult to access.
“In 2013, young men were divided—about half (51 percent) favored making it more difficult to access pornography online, while just about as many (40 percent) opposed this policy,” the survey found. “Today, six in 10 young men say they believe we should make accessing pornography online more difficult.”
This comes just weeks after the Supreme Court upheld a Texas law requiring consumers to provide age verification to gain access to commercial porn sites. The Texas measure was enacted in 2023 for the purpose of protecting children from pornographic content, requiring every user to provide proof of age in order to access the sites. The 6-3 vote marks the first time the court has required this of adults for the purpose of protecting minors. A total of 19 states currently have active age verification laws for porn websites and several other states have similar bills pending.
The shift among Gen Z men demonstrates a staggering turn in generational opinion, as The Daily Wire&#8217;s newest talent, Isabel Brown, wrote in a Thursday X post.

The Department of Education is ending a Clinton-era rule allowing illegal aliens access to federally funded tuition programs.
<a href="https://dailycaller.com/2025/07/10/exclusive-trumps-ed-dept-ends-free-tuition-for-illegals/">According</a> to The Daily Caller, the Trump administration argues that the policy, which funds career, technical, and adult education programs, violates the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act (PRWORA). The Education Department notified postsecondary education programs that the rule would no longer apply and declared that providers have “obligations to verify the eligibility of participants.”
This was one of <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/07/taxpayer-funded-benefits-are-for-american-citizens-not-illegals/">several</a> such moves the White House announced today. The Department of Health and Human Services &#8220;is restricting illegal aliens from 13 additional public programs, including Head Start,&#8221; while the Labor Department &#8220;is barring illegal aliens from accessing federal workforce development resources and grants.&#8221;
According to a White House fact sheet, the cuts save &#8220;roughly $40 billion in benefits for American citizens, overturns decades of bureaucratic defiance and builds on President Trump’s executive order directing an END to the subsidization of open borders.&#8221;
“Past presidents sat by and allowed illegal aliens to steal public benefits at the expense of hardworking American taxpayers — that ends now,&#8221; White House Assistant Press Secretary Taylor Rogers told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Under President Trump, it’s America first always.”
PRWORA previously exclusively allocated the use of federal funds to American citizens, permanent residents, and a small category of “qualified aliens” (e.g., refugees, asylees). However, the Clinton administration exempted postsecondary programs from the rule. The Trump Education Department stated that the exemption “mischaracterized the law by creating artificial distinctions between federal benefit programs based upon the method of assistance.”
In line with PRWORA, Secretary of Education Linda McMahon <a href="https://www.ed.gov/about/news/press-release/us-department-of-education-ends-taxpayer-subsidization-of-postsecondary-education-illegal-aliens">said</a> if the federal government is going to fund postsecondary education programs, it “should benefit American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
“Under President Trump’s leadership, hardworking American taxpayers will no longer foot the bill for illegal aliens to participate in our career, technical, or adult education programs or activities,” she said. “The Department will ensure that taxpayer funds are reserved for citizens and individuals who have entered our country through legal means who meet federal eligibility criteria.”
The Trump administration has been cracking down on states that provide benefits to illegals in education.
On June 30, it announced the revocation of nearly $7 billion in federal grants, part of which went toward teaching English as a second language. The administration argued that the money was being used to push a “radical left wing agenda.”
Despite threats from the administration, some schools continue to provide benefits for illegals and protect them from deportation.
The Education Department’s new interpretation of the Clinton-era rule will take effect on August 9, 2025.

In a TikTok <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14889717/fight-breaks-plane-female-lawyer-skips-line.html">video</a> posted on Tuesday, an argument erupted among airplane passengers when a woman attempted to skip ahead in the exit line.
The woman, who is a lawyer, first said “shut your mouth” to a passenger after he complained that she hadn&#8217;t waited her turn. 
“You’re all whining for no reason. Just get up when you want to — just deal with it, people, my God,” she drawled, rolling her eyes as other passengers jumped in to condemn her. 
“You’re just a Karen and that’s just the way it is,” said one man before beginning to chant: “Karen! Karen!” 
“You guys are so funny!” the woman mocked. “You’re the Karens about it because you’re the ones — you’re the ones who are making noise.”
Eventually, a baby began crying in the background as the argument grew more heated.
“Why don’t you all shut up? It’s not affecting any of you!” the woman retorted over disgruntled voices. 
She soon noticed the camera recording her, then sarcastically asked the person behind it if he had her permission to record, falling into a common stereotype of so-called “Karen” behavior. 
“It’s public,” one man answered calmly.
“Shut the f**k up!” the woman exclaimed. 
After the passengers protested her use of the “f-bomb,” she pointed to a man behind her and said, “given your accent I can tell you’ve said the f-bomb.” 
A woman in a pink jacket then stepped in.
“We’re not doing that,” she declared. “You can be a jerk … you’re not going to insult someone because of an accent.” 

A boy beside her grinned as though he were witnessing something exotic and accused the attorney of being a “racist.”
“Do you even know what the word racist means?” she asked. “You’re white. Maybe it’s xenophobic if you’re talking about accents.” 
The baby in the background continued to cry, and the video ended when the woman told another passenger she would meet him with her bar card after they got off the plane.
The now-viral TikTok had racked up nearly 15,000 likes by Wednesday.

Just days after President Donald Trump said he was &#8220;disappointed&#8221; with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia bombarded Ukraine with its largest drone attack of the war. 
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky <a href="https://x.com/ZelenskyyUa/status/1942835716905382384">claims</a> that 741 aerial vehicles participated in the attack on Tuesday night and into the early hours of Wednesday morning, with the Ukrainian Air Force reporting a mix of 728 attack drones and decoys, as well as 13 missiles. According to the Air Force, 711 drones and seven missiles were neutralized, with impacts recorded in at least four locations. 
The northwestern Volyn region, in which the city of Lutsk is located, was the primary target, and Zelensky stated that damage was recorded in ten other cities: Dnipro, Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv.

According to<a href="https://abcnews.go.com/International/russia-launches-largest-drone-attack-ukraine-kyiv-pushes/story?id=123599312"> ABC News</a>, June took the record for the most long-range drones and missiles launched into Ukraine — 5,438 and 239, respectively. On Monday, President Donald Trump announced plans to resume weapons shipments to Ukraine after they were paused due to concerns about U.S. stockpiles. 
“They are getting hit very hard. … We’re gonna have to send more weapons,” he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/we-have-to-trump-to-send-ukraine-more-defensive-weapons?author=Zach+Jewell&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=11&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=%E2%80%98We+Have+To%E2%80%99%3A+Trump+To+Send+Ukraine+More+Defensive+Weapons">said</a>, then later added: “I’m disappointed, frankly, that President Putin hasn’t stopped.” 
Ukraine also launched attacks on Russia throughout Tuesday night. The Defense Ministry in Moscow said they destroyed 86 Ukrainian drones, 4 of which were over the Moscow region. Flight restrictions were temporarily enforced at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. 
On Tuesday, Zelensky <a href="https://x.com/ZelenskyyUa/status/1942661575178948872">stated</a> that he had ordered his defense officials to intensify contacts with the United States regarding continued military aid.

The death toll from the Texas flash floods has risen beyond 100 people in the state. In Kerr County, where Camp Mystic is located, first responders have recovered the bodies of 84 people, 28 of whom were children. 
Ten girls from Camp Mystic and a counselor are still missing. The camp’s 74-year-old director, Dick Eastland, was killed in the flooding, along with Chloe Childress, an 18-year-old camp counselor.
Hunt ended her message with encouragement, asking her followers to “hold on to hope,” and shared verses from 2 Corinthians and Psalms. 
“Even in the darkest valleys, we hold on to the hope that this is not the end of the story,” she posted.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) delivered a theatrical speech spanning more than 6 hours on Thursday morning, voicing his opposition to President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” and the after-show reviews could not be more negative.
Jeffries began the speech just after 5 a.m., announcing he would take his “sweet time” to hold up the bill&#8217;s vote, prompting House Democrats to cheer and applaud.

Former ESPN host Keith Olbermann clashed with Riley Gaines this week following the University of Pennsylvania’s decision to strip trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas of his program records.

Earlier this year, President Donald Trump signed an executive order banning men from competing in women’s sports. The NCAA updated its gender eligibility policies in compliance with the administration.

“The University will not – on the basis of sex – exclude female students from participation in, deny female students the benefits of, or subject female students to discrimination under, any athletics programs,” Jameson said. “In addition, in providing to female student-athletes intimate facilities such as locker rooms and bathrooms in connection with Penn Athletics, such facilities shall be strictly separated on the basis of sex and comparably provided to each sex.”

Stephen Ireland, who has repeatedly attacked J.K. Rowling online for her pro-woman and anti-trans stances, was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Monday for raping a 12-year-old boy.
Ireland co-founded the pro-LGBT UK-based group Surrey Pride in 2018, and since then, has used his position to lash out at the “Harry Potter” author, labeling her a TERF (Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist) for advocating that women must be protected from biological men taking over their spaces.
“How to ruin a legacy… Become a TERF!” he <a href="https://hotair.com/john-s-2/2025/06/30/pride-founder-who-repeatedly-attacked-jk-rowling-online-gets-30-years-for-rape-n3804344">wrote</a> in a 2020 X post shared by J.K. Rowling on Monday. “Very disappointing JK!”
Another post from 2020 read, “The sorting hat has decided… @JK_Rowling ‘House of TERF.’”
Ireland, 41, raped the child at a flat in Addlestone, a town about 18 miles from London, after messaging him on Grindr, a dating app for gay men. The victim told police they had sex in the flat, smoked methamphetamine, and watched pornography, <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2kkrxdpndo">according</a> to the BBC.
The child initially lied to Ireland about his age, saying he was 17 before later claiming he was 13.
“OK &#8211; we just have to keep it a secret,” Ireland said when the child told him this, and later asked if he would do it again with his flatmate, David Sutton, who was a Surrey Pride volunteer.

Ireland and Sutton were both found guilty of a string of sexual crimes against children, including voyeurism, arranging commission of a child sex offense, and &#8220;possession and distribution of prohibited images of children.&#8221;
On Monday, Judge Patricia Lees said that Ireland “took advantage” of the 12-year-old boy.
“Far from finding that repugnant, you found that exciting, and sought to do it again,” she said. 
Ireland was sentenced to 24 years for the rape, as well as a further 6 years on &#8220;extended license,&#8221; often part of an extended sentence for offenders deemed a significant risk to the public. Sutton was sentenced to four-and-a-half years for making inappropriate images of children and the possession of an extreme pornographic image.
After enduring much online abuse from Ireland, Rowling weighed in on the sentencing in an X post.
