On Monday night, the Left lost their mind right on cue over the announcement of President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
No matter whom the president was going to choose, the Left was going to paint the nominee as an extremist who threatens democracy, basic human rights, and enjoys drowning puppies.
This cheap strategy used to rile-up the Democratic base was glaringly evident in a statement fired-off by the Women’s March (emphasis added): “In response to Donald Trump’s nomination of XX to the Supreme Court of the United States, the Women’s March released the following statement,” started an email from the feminist group.
Clearly, the statement was pre-written, with the name only added in after the nominee was learned by the public, save the one “XX” spot at the beginning. Oops!
The hyperbolic email went on to predictably paint Kavanaugh — or “XX” — as an extremist delivering a “death sentence” to women’s rights.
“Trump’s announcement today is a death sentence for thousands of women in the United States. Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination threatens to move our nation’s highest court dangerously to the right and further erode protections for every marginalized group in America,” reads the statement, adding that President Trump is “following through” on his promise to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Such Trump hysteria and blanket knee-jerk demonization of anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders was also showcased by “mainstream” and “objective” ABC News. Before Trump announced Kavanaugh as nominee, the media outlet described the pick as “controversial.” Again, they didn’t know who had been chosen at the time of the tweet.
The confirmation of Kavanaugh will without doubt be a fight, but this would have been the case no matter whom was chosen by President Trump as a nominee.
