Prince Harry revealed this week that wife Meghan Markle told him she was going to commit suicide but stopped herself because she didn’t want her husband to lose “another woman” in his life, referencing Harry’s mother, the late Princess Diana.

The comment exploded online as many highlighted the apparent poor health of the pair’s relationship and Meghan’s seeming manipulation, especially when viewing the revelation in light of Harry’s near-complete estrangement from his family since coupling up with Meghan.

“This comment will change a lot of minds on Meghan. It is deranged language that hints at emotional abuse and manipulation,” blasted Charlie Peters.

“Took him away from his family, isolated him from work and friends, and topped it off by claiming that his sadness is the only thing that prevented her suicide. Deeply toxic,” he added. “Come back to us, son of England. All will be forgiven. We miss the old Harry and would cheer his return.”

Jack Posobiec captioned screenshots of numerous headlines related to Meghan’s comments, captioning it, “Constant emotional manipulation. Recognize the signs.”

Daily Wire host Candace Owens didn’t hold back, either: “I cannot say enough that Prince Harry is in an emotionally abusive relationship,” she posted to Twitter. “Meghan has groomed him to believe that she is his mother reincarnate—only this time, he has a chance to save her.”

“It is so disturbing to watch,” Owens added. “Please stop putting cameras on him.”

“Oh, and by the way, this is abusive and manipulative, to tell someone with major past trauma involving the death of a loved one that you’ll kill yourself unless they do X and Y,” commented Emily Zanotti. “Awful.”

Harry made the revealing comments in a documentary series with Oprah Winfrey which aired Friday.

“The thing that stopped her from seeing it through was how unfair it would be on me after everything that had happened to my mum and to now be put in a position of losing another woman in my life, with a baby inside of her, our baby,” Harry said, Page Six reported.

“The scariest thing for her was her clarity of thought,” the prince continued. “She hadn’t ‘lost it.’ She wasn’t crazy. She wasn’t self-medicating, be it through pills or through alcohol. She was absolutely sober. She was completely sane. Yet in the quiet of night, these thoughts woke her up.”

Though Harry never sought help from his family, he speculated that they wouldn’t help him anyway.

“That was one of the biggest reasons to leave, feeling trapped and feeling controlled through fear, both by the media and by the system itself, which never encouraged the talking about this kind of trauma,” he said, adding, “Certainly now I will never be bullied into silence.”
