Actress Kate Hudson says co-parenting with three different men is easier than fans might imagine.

The 43-year-old star shares son Ryder, 18, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, son Bingham, 11, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy, and daughter Rani Rose, 4, with fiancé Danny Fujikawa. Hudson discussed her feelings on the situation during a recent interview with The Sunday Times.

“It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we’re killing it,” Hudson told the publication. “The unit that I’ve created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it’s ours.”

She went on to say how creating a traditional family was never her goal.

“I’m not interested in forcing some conventional idea of love or marriage. I’d like to be able to grow intimately with my partner for a long time, but I also don’t have rose-colored glasses on,” the actress continued. “My goal in life is that I want to feel love and I want to give love, but I’m also practical, so, one day at a time. I work really hard at relationships because I like them.”

Hudson next mentioned taking inspiration from her own childhood.

“My parents have done an amazing job of continuing that dance,” she explained.

Hudson is the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn and musician Bill Hudson. But Hawn has been with partner Kurt Russell for 39 years and Hudson says she thinks of Russell as her father.

This isn’t the first time Hudson has discussed co-parenting in glowing terms. “As much as I would say I don’t recommend it to most, my situation is quite amazing,” she said during a 2019 podcast interview

“When you get divorced, you’re still in a relationship,” Hudson continued. “It’s just a different kind of relationship. You’re going to have good days, you’re going to have bad days, you’re going to have good weeks, bad weeks.”

The actress is currently engaged to Rani’s dad but she said she’s not in a hurry to get married. “I hope we get married!” Hudson told The Times. “We’re not in a hurry. The last thing I need right now is to plan a wedding on top of everything else, but I’m excited about it.”

“Last night he was going through some old footage on his phone of him and Rani and it melted my heart,” she gushed. “He’s such a wonderful dad and stepdad.”
