WATCH: Trump Taunts His ‘Dream’ Opponent In 2020

While pollsters have been busy repeatedly asking everybody who might possibly vote in two years whom they’d like to see facing off against Donald Trump in 2020, one person’s opinion has been largely neglected. But in an interview Wednesday, Trump went on the record to make painfully clear whom he’d like to see on the ballot next presidential election: “Crazy Joe Biden.”

“Who do you think your Democratic opponent will be?” asked CBS Evening News’ Jeff Glor, adding, “Joe Biden says he’ll make a decision by next January.”

“Well, I dream about Biden, that’s a dream,” Trump responded. “Look, Joe Biden ran three times. He never got more than 1% and President Obama took him out of the garbage heap — and everybody was shocked that he did. I’d love to have it be Biden.”

But even if Biden decides against it, Trump suggested, he’d be thrilled with any of the other leading candidates. “I think I’d like to have any one of those people we’re talking about,” he said. “There’s probably a group of seven or eight right now; I’d like to run against any one of them.”

So is Trump correct that Biden’s presidential runs were disasters? CNN provides the following summary of the reason both were ultimately “derailed”:

Biden’s first campaign was derailed rather quickly in September 1987 after a plagiarism scandal culminated in an admission he lifted — nearly verbatim — a speech originally given by a British politician.

And his 2007 bid is likely most remembered for the gaffes the free-speaking Delaware senator let fly, including one in which he inartfully described his then-Democratic rival, Sen. Barack Obama, as “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

So now that we know who Trump “dreams” about running against, who do Democrats want heading up the “For The People” campaign to #Resist2020 (and #AbolishICE)? Rasmussen asked a bunch of likely Democratic voters recently and found that nearly three-quarters of them want to see a “fresh face” on the ticket. In other words, not Biden or Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. The Daily Wire reports:

Asked “Should Democrats look for a fresh face to run for president in 2020 or should Democrats promote a candidate who has already run in the past?” 73% of Likely Democratic Voters say they believe their party should find someone who has not run for the highest office in the past. Only 16% disagree, while 11% are undecided. …

The survey found that Democrats are more strongly in favor of producing a new candidate than the general public. Among all likely voters, 65%, say Democrats should find someone new for 2020; 19% say a retread is better and 16% aren’t sure.
