A video posted in January of last year shows a statue of communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin having its head removed during transport.

The former Soviet Union fostered a cult of personality around its Lenin, continuing after its first leader’s death. Toward this end, it manufactured and distributed many statues of Lenin across its territory and satellites.
Years ago, people in Ukraine celebrated the the removal of another such statue.
Several similar moments have been captured and shared on YouTube.
Lenin’s body – which is preserved through an ongoing embalming treatment – has been available for public viewing in a mausoleum in Red Square since shortly after his death in 1924.
