“The fix is in,” said Newt Gingrich of Robert Mueller’s broad investigation into allegations of Russian interference is last year’s presidential election.
Gingrich spoke with The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas in a Monday-published interview.
“The establishment,” said Gingrich, is using “deep state” tactics to subvert the election of Donald Trump via lawfare:
“This is the establishment counterattacking legally when they lost politically. I don’t think they’ll get Trump, I think they’ll get somebody, because I don’t think you get that many high-powered lawyers with the power of the government to investigate [without getting someone].
…
There are these deep state patterns of counterattacking, and unfortunately all too many Republicans are sleepwalking and pretending this is all okay, and they don’t do any research, they don’t look at what’s the background to what’s going on here. This is not a fair game. These are people who are out to destroy Trump.”
Mueller’s investigation of “Russian involvement in the 2016 election,” said Gingrich last Friday, is “a thinly veiled offensive on the Trump presidency.”
