WATCH: Dinesh D’Souza’s Case for Christians to Vote Trump

   DailyWire.com

On Sunday, political documentarian Dinesh D’Souza put forth an argument for Christians to vote for Republican nominee Donald Trump come November, though D’Souza skillfully managed to make such an argument while entirely avoiding Trump’s name.

Comparing Christians today to American abolitionists, who were morally pure in intent but politically “ineffective” until they joined forces with the Republican Party, the conservative speaker argues for pragmatism, and a focus on “consequences” in addition to “intentions.” According to D’Souza, abstaining from the ballot box is akin to voting for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, and consequently supporting her unmatched corruption, intolerance for religious freedom and love for on-demand abortion, among other anti-Christian sentiments and policies.

D’Souza implores Christians, and conservatives alike, to fight against Hillary, as opposed to “collaborating” with the left to bring about further damage to our country.

D’Souza opens his declaration by conceding that this election is a “bizarre situation,” and that Hillary’s “opponent” is suffering from “his own flaws.”

“So, what do you do?” he asked.

“You are in the position of the abolitionists of the 19th Century,” asserted the conservative speaker. While the abolitionists were the only ones with morally pure intentions, they were “completely ineffective” politically, he said.

“The abolitionists by themselves could accomplish nothing, and did accomplish nothing,” he stated. “Why? Because being ‘principled’ they had no path… to convert their principles into practice; their intentions were pure, but their activities were worthless.”

Slavery was only ended by the Republican Party, asserted D’Souza, “a coalition that included the abolitionists.”

The conservative then underscored his main point: “When we think about morality, there are intentions and there are consequences, and quite honestly, morality involves both. Now the problem with having pure intentions, and riding a moral high-horse about them, is that those pure intentions can actually produce terrible consequenses.”

D’Souza then applied this thinking directly to NeverTrump conservatives who are choosing to abstain from voting altogether or voting for a different candidate other than Trump.

“You are actually casting your vote for Hillary Clinton,” he stated. “You need to know, a vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to swing the balance of the Supreme Court, virtually irrevocably against us. A vote for Hillary Clinton is a vote to not only permit, but bring in federal subsidies for abortion. A vote for Hillary is a vote to put religious freedom—already precarious—into a much more endangered position, because the checks and balances of which would normally block the government are themselves being eroded. And you are voting for a regime in which justice becomes increasingly discretionary,” added D’Souza, who witnessed this first hand.

Conservatives and Christians cannot retreat and believe the left will leave us alone, stated D’Souza, invoking lost platforms now used against us, such as Hollywood, academia and the media.

“It’s one thing if it happens anyway, and we fought it and we lost,” he said, speaking of a Hillary Administration occupying the White House, “but for us to collaborate with it; to make it easy; to make it happen?” he asked.

D’Souza concluded with the “immortal words of the 60s.”

“If not now, when? If not us, who?”
