A reporter with ABC News accompanied a border patrol agent to the U.S.-Mexico border on Monday where they ran into a group of alleged illegal aliens and a suspected human smuggler.
The agent chased the smuggler down a dirt path in McAllen, Texas until he reached the river and started heading south, back to Mexico.
“Look, there’s a smuggler,” U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent Robert Rodriguez shouted. “I cannot go in the river to apprehend him. As long as he goes back south, I’m all right.”
The segment from ABC News comes as President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday that he wants those who illegally enter the U.S. to be immediately sent back to their home countries.
“We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country,” Trump wrote. “When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came. Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order. Most children come without parents.”
“Our Immigration policy, laughed at all over the world, is very unfair to all of those people who have gone through the system legally and are waiting on line for years!” Trump continued. “Immigration must be based on merit — we need people who will help to Make America Great Again!”
