“An 8-year-old boy’s parents watched a psychopath murder their precious son in front of their eyes. This scum tweet is the lowest of the low. Delete your account.”

On Wednesday night, The Washington Post, referring to the attack on the Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in which at least six people were killed and scores of others were injured, tweeted, “Here’s what we know so far on the sequence of events that led to the Waukesha tragedy caused by a SUV.”

It wasn’t just the tweet; in the article describing the attack, the Post wrote:

A quarter-mile from the rotary building, at 4:39 p.m., an officer told a dispatcher a maroon Ford Escape “just blew by [him]” at White Rock and Hartwell avenues, the intersection where barricades blocking traffic to the parade were removed just a minute before, according to police audio and time codes provided by Broadcastify. A few moments later, the SUV rammed through the parade participants, killing five and injuring more than 40 people, including children.

After writing of “the suspect who allegedly drove over the Marching Blackshirts of Waukesha South High School and other participants in the festivities” and identifying the suspect, who was later charged with homicide, the Post did it again, writing, “The SUV then drove down Main Street, hitting more than 40 people and killing at least five of them. Down the road, instead of following the parade route and making a turn to get to Wisconsin Avenue, the SUV went straight through North West Avenue, passing over the barriers.”

Social media lacerated the Post:

Colorado GOP Rep. Ken Buck: “Did the SUV drive itself? This headline is a disgrace.”

Columnist Stephen Miller: “What did they charge the SUV with?”

Radio host Larry O’Connor: “‘Caused by a SUV’ You think this isn’t deliberate?”

Attorney Marina Medvin: “I put my SUV in a garage tonight to lock him away, you know, just in case.”

Writer Harry Khatchatrian: “Here’s what we know about the sequence of events that led to the 9/11 tragedy caused by a Boeing 767.”

Peter Moskos, professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in the Department of Law: “What I don’t get about the WaPo and NYT when they refuse to print the race of the killer when the killer is Black and has expressed racist attitudes (so seems relevant) is who are they protecting? The tender eyes of their readers? It’s not like other media keeps it secret.”

Stand-up comic Tim Dillon: “Blaming this on an SUV is red pilling so many people on the media. This wasn’t an ‘attack’ or a ‘massacre,’ it was a ‘tragedy caused by an SUV.’”

Federalist editor Kylee Zempel: “An 8-year-old boy’s parents watched a psychopath murder their precious son in front of their eyes. This scum tweet is the lowest of the low. Delete your account.”

GOP consultant Matt Whitlock: “This feels like trolling but it’s hard to imagine someone using a horrifying massacre to troll.”

The Daily Wire’s Virginia Kruta: “I don’t know why I have to say this, but an SUV without a driver is not capable of ‘causing’ anything.”
