A source at Yahoo News confirms that former U.S. Soldier and former man Bradley Manning (now Chelsea Manning) broke down in tears at a U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, after being forced to get the same 2-inch length haircut as other male prisoners, violating Bradley’s “feminine manner.”
Manning, who is currently serving a 35-year prison sentence after leaking over 700,000 classified government documents to WikiLeaks, will take action against the U.S. on two fronts; to appeal a conviction of espionage while simultaneously suing for supposed poor treatment in prison thus far.
With the help of a premier civil liberties law firm, she is working on an appeal —likely to be filed early next year — of her 2013 conviction for violations of the Espionage Act. She will argue, among other points, that she was in fact a whistleblower who exposed U.S. government abuses and was never given the opportunity to present her motives during her court martial.
Simultaneously, Manning is pursuing a separate lawsuit challenging her treatment in prison.
U.S. taxpayers are already footing the bill for Manning’s hormone treatments, but of course this is still not enough. Manning, through a blog Manning is writing in prison, complained about supposedly losing library privileges after unauthorized reading material, which included a Vanity Fair magazine where Caitlyn Jenner graced the cover, was seized by prison guards.
But the haircut, which was allegedly forced upon Manning was apparently the last straw,
“Plaintiff feels like a freak and a weirdo,” Manning asserts in her complaint, “not because having short hair makes a person less of a woman — but because for her, it undermines specifically recommended treatment and sends the message to everyone that she is not a ‘real’ woman.”
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton continues on the campaign trail in her quest to become the leader of the free world despite the sending and receiving of classified emails on a non-sanctioned personal server which she conveniently stashed in a bathroom.
