One of Sen. Tim Kaine’s (D-VA) children was arrested for rioting against President Donald Trump.
The Pioneer Press reports that 24-year-old Linwood Michael Kaine, who goes by the name “Woody,” was one of five people arrested on Saturday for second-degree rioting during the “March 4 Trump” rally. A number of anti-Trump protestors attempted to cause disarray at the pro-Trump rally; during which somebody chucked a smoke bomb that hit a 61-year-old woman in the forehead.
At that point, the rally descended into chaos; fights occurred, a “chemical irritant” was used, but eventually order was restored when the anti-Trump rioters left.
Linwood Kaine was among the five people whom police suspected of lighting “fireworks inside the Capitol.” Kaine rejected orders by the police to get down on the ground.
“The officer was able to get ahold of Mr. Kaine, but he got up, squared off with the officer and the officer tried to take him to the ground again,” St. Paul police spokesman Steve Linders told the Pioneer Press. “He then was taken to the ground, but continued to resist, at which point another officer deployed a knee strike to get him to cooperate with the officers and put his hands behind his back. After the strike, Mr. Kaine cooperated and was taken into custody without further incident.”
Senator Kaine released a statement to the Pioneer Press that read, “We love that our three children have their own views and concerns about current political issues. They fully understand the responsibility to express those concerns peacefully.”
Linwood Kaine is the youngest of the Kaine children. It is unknown what exactly his role was with the anti-Trump disruptors.
The Daily Caller also noted that the far-left Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) had announced that they were going to counterprotest the rally, although it also unknown if Kaine was involved with SDS.
The anti-Trump disrupters reportedly didn’t have a significant impact on the rally.
