Last week in Edmonton, Canada, a newlywed couple ended their wedding night in jail after a barroom brawl spilled out into the street.
Photos and videos posted on social media showed brawlers coming out in droves from the Denizen Hall bar and piling into the street; police arrived and took control. One witness, Matt Machado told CTV Edmonton, “The doors just explode open and bodies just start piling out.” A second witness added, “The bride is just swinging, and the melee ends up on the sidewalk.” A third witness chimed in, “As we’re watching you just see this girl in a wedding dress right in the middle of it.”
According to police, the bride was arrested and charged with assault; the groom was charged with mischief.
Noreen Remtulla, spokesperson for the Edmonton Police Service, told ABC News that the couple was released on a promise to appear in court; their first appearances have been scheduled for September.
