On Monday, Georgetown University released a statement regarding a member of their board of advisors who had tweeted that he hoped CRTV host Allie Stuckey would have a “#MeToo moment,” implying that she should be the victim of sexual harassment or assault.
The hostility displayed by Jeff Bernstein had been catalyzed by Stuckey retweeting a user who claimed sexual harassment was “a symptom of a broken legal system.” Stuckey pointed out gently:
Bernstein then tweeted:

After a firestorm broke out following Bernstein’s tweet, he removed his name from his Twitter account, changed his profile and covered photos so that they did not show his face, and erased his bio that said he was a board of director for Georgetown, according to Independent Journal Review.
Meanwhile, Stuckey tweeted:
[[{“fid”:”29163″,”view_mode”:”default”,”fields”:{“format”:”default”,”field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]”:false,”field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]”:”screenshot from Twitter”},”type”:”media”,”field_deltas”:{“2”:{“format”:”default”,”field_file_image_alt_text[und][0][value]”:false,”field_file_image_title_text[und][0][value]”:”screenshot from Twitter”}},”attributes”:{“title”:”screenshot from Twitter”,”class”:”media-element file-default”,”data-delta”:”2″}}]]
But Georgetown University’s statement read:
The Masters of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University is deeply committed to fostering the role of women in international affairs and promoting respectful dialogue and debate on the critical issues facing our world.
Encouraging, threatening or condoning violence and harassment against another person, in any form and on any format, is deeply inconsistent with the values of the program, our school and our university.
We appreciate Mr. Bernstein’s efforts to apologize for recent comments deeply inconsistent with our values and mission and have accepted his resignation from the MSFS Board of Advisors. MSFS will continue its dedication to preparing women and men for leadership roles in global affairs.
