SHAKE IT OFF: Taylor Swift Gets Political — But Endorses Democrat Who SUPPORTED Kavanaugh

   DailyWire.com

Taylor Swift, the 28-year-old singer who dropped out of high school and later earned a GED, jumped into the political fray on Sunday, declaring that she opposes Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn.

While not surprising that a young person would lean liberal, Swift announced that she will back former Tennessee governor Phil Bredesen for the Senate seat. Bredesen, though, recently angered Democrats and rabid liberals by announcing that he would have supported Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination for the Supreme Court, declaring that there was no evidence to support last-minute sexual assault allegations against him.

The hardcore left MoveOn immediately pulled its support after Bredesen’s announcement. “We’re cancelling a planned six-figure digital video ad expenditure for Phil Bredesen in Tennessee due to his Kavanaugh position. And similarly will be pulling all planned campaigning on behalf of Joe Manchin in West Virginia if he votes yes. Kavanaugh is unfit for the Court,” MoveOn.org wrote on Twitter.

We’re not sure if MoveOn will pull its endorsement of Swift’s music.

For his part, Bredesen happily accepted the support of one of the world’s most popular singers.

“Thank you for the kind words @taylorswift13. I’m honored to have your support and that of so many Tennesseans who are ready to put aside the partisan shouting and get things done. We’re ready for it. Last day to register to vote is October 9,” he wrote.

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Swift said she could not support Blackburn because of her record of voting against women and the LGBT community.

“Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. These are not MY Tennessee values. … I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent,” she wrote.

Swift also said she would not vote for someone “who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love.”

Twitter was all atwitter about Swift’s entrance into the political realm — and not all good, mind you.

“You just endorsed a Democrat in the Tennessee senate race with a ridiculous statement saying Marsha Blackburn, a woman, is against women,” author Charlie Kirk wrote. “You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about Your career has never recovered since Kanye ended it”
