On Tuesday, CNN anchor Dana Bash applauded President Donald Trump on his handling of the China-originated novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, praising Trump as the “kind of leader that people need” in this time of crisis.

After dismissing criticism from media reporter and American neurosurgeon Sanjay Gupta, Bash said Trump’s “tone” over the past two days should be applauded on an “American” and “human” level.

“If you look at the big picture, this was remarkable by the President of the United Sates,” Bash stated on CNN airwaves, Tuesday afternoon. “This is a nonpartisan, this is an important thing to note and to applaud, from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint.”

“[Trump] is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday, in tone, that people need and want and yearn for in times of crises and uncertainty,” the anchor added.

CNN has been notably negative with their coverage of Trump, once even attempting to create a scandalous story over the president choosing not one, but two scoops of ice cream for dessert.

In other words, the praise from CNN shocked politicos on the Right.

The coronavirus has infected 5,213 Americans as of Tuesday afternoon, with a death toll of 85. Globally, we are nearing 200,000 confirmed cases and 7,800 deaths.

As communities and states across the nation take social distancing measures, disrupting businesses, President Trump is pushing a $850 billion stimulus package, mostly in the form of tax relief measures.

“Roughly $500 billion of this would be tied to a payroll tax cut, while $250 billion would come in the form of Small Business Administration loans and another $58 billion would be directed to the airline industry, among other measures,” Fox News reported.

According to The Washington Post, “The $850 billion package would come in addition to another roughly $100 billion package that aims to provide paid sick leave for impacted workers, though the details of that legislation remain very fluid as it moves through Congress.”

The president has addressed concerns over the virus numerous times in televised press conferences and via his Twitter account.

On Friday, Trump officially declared the outbreak a national emergency, unlocking $50 billion to address the health scare.

“In December 2019, a novel (new) coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 (“the virus”) was first detected in Wuhan, Hubei Province, People’s Republic of China, causing outbreaks of the coronavirus disease COVID-19 that has now spread globally,” the proclamation said.

“The Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) declared a public health emergency on January 31, 2020, under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 247d), in response to COVID-19,” it continued. “I have taken sweeping action to control the spread of the virus in the United States, including by suspending entry of foreign nationals seeking entry who had been physically present within the prior 14 days in certain jurisdictions where COVID-19 outbreaks have occurred, including the People’s Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Schengen Area of Europe.”
