Vice President Kamala Harris took some heat online for her failure to give a coherent answer when pressed about sky-high inflation for Americans during a CBS interview on Sunday.
“Kamala’s response to questions about inflation really highlights that constant complaint from her staffers that she ‘refuses to wade into briefing materials,'” politico Matt Whitlock posted online, captioning video of Harris’ fumble.
The video clip has gone viral, racking up over one million views.
As noted by Fox News, the VP was pressed by “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan about inflation. “Was it wrong to consider inflation transitory? These price spikes seem like they’re going to be with us for a while,” she asked.
“We have to address the fact that — we gotta deal with the fact that folks are paying for gas, paying for groceries, and are, are, are — need solutions to it. So let’s talk about that,” Harris stammered. “Let’s talk about that.”
“Short-term solution includes what we need to do around the supply chain, right?” the Veep continued. “So, we went to the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Savannah, Georgia, and said, ‘Hey, guys, no more five days a week, eight hours a day; 24/7, let’s move the products because people need their product – they need what they need.’ We’re dealing with it in terms of the long term. And that’s about what we need to do to pass ‘Build Back Better.’ It strengthens our economy.”

As detailed in reports published this month, unhappy former Harris staffers ripped the VP for apparently refusing to read her briefing materials and acting like a “bully,” according to The Washington Post.
“It’s clear that you’re not working with somebody who is willing to do the prep and the work,” one former staffer said, Business Insider reported. “With Kamala you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you’re constantly sort of propping up a bully and it’s not really clear why.”
Former Harris staffer Gil Duran told the Post the high turnover rate for staffers in the VP’s office “[point] back to her,” the report detailed.
“One of the things we’ve said in our little text groups among each other is what is the common denominator through all this and it’s her,” said Duran.
“Who are the next talented people you’re going to bring in and burn through and then have (them) pretend they’re retiring for positive reasons,” he added.
An Axios report similarly painted a bleak picture of Harris’ office. “Some Harris staffers want to work on Biden’s reelection campaign, while others don’t want to be aligned with Harris in the event another promising Democrat runs for president in 2024,” the report said, adding, “There’s been an inordinate amount of disarray — and, now, turnover — throughout her tenure. Her allies say she has a terrific chance to reset and downplay the early stumbles. But top Biden officials privately roll their eyes at her team, and want to see smoother, more effective leadership.”
