POLL: 52% Of Americans Don’t Care If You Say ‘Merry Christmas’ Or ‘Happy Holidays’

Here comes the gaslight.

Leftists will surely be blasting the “War on Christmas” whistleblowers as out-of-touch conspiracy theorists based on a new poll showing that 52% of U.S. adults couldn’t care less if you wished them a tepid, empty, sterilized “Happy Holidays” or an enthusiastic, warm, traditional “Merry Christmas.”

While leftists reject the “War on Christmas” narrative, the new poll, conducted by Pew Research Center, actually confirms it. Political correctness fueled by buzzwords like “inclusiveness” and “multicultural” have become so pervasive that Americans no longer care, or at the very least tell the difference, between the two greetings. Here’s how USA Today triumphantly reported the news:

President Trump may want you to say “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays,” but a new survey released Tuesday shows a growing number of Americans say they don’t mind how they’re greeted during the holiday season.

The Pew Research Center found that 52% of U.S. adults who said it didn’t matter to them how they were greeted in stores over the holidays, up from 46% in 2012. Compare that to the 32% of people who said they would prefer to be greeted with “Merry Christmas” at a store, which was down from 42% in 2012.

Another 15% said they would prefer something less religious, like “happy holidays” or “season’s greetings,” slightly up from 12% in 2012.

Pew surveyed 1,503 adults ages 18 and older from Nov. 29 to Dec. 4.

If there indeed is no “War on Christmas,” then the numbers of people wanting “Merry Christmas” should have either remained steady or dramatically shot up over the years. It seems the exact opposite has happened; not coincidentally, this occurred after eight years of President Obama’s greeting cards wishing people “Happy Holidays.”

The “War on Christmas” has been a conservative talking point for at least a decade, getting its start with Bill O’Reilly and reaching its apex with President Trump’s campaign rallying cry to “Make Christmas Great Again.” Leftists met the talking point with mockery throughout the years, gaslighting it at every instant while defending “Happy Holidays” with almost the same fervor as their defense of so-called “reproductive rights.”

As the season kicked off this year, the Left even enlisted a Jesuit priest, Rev. Kevin O’Brien, to help do their bidding. Speaking with MIC, he declared that Jesus cared little if people honored His name with the word “Christmas.”

“It should not be about litmus tests, about whether I say ‘happy holidays’ or ‘merry Christmas,'” O’Brien said. “I don’t like the concept of a ‘War on Christmas.’ To me, that’s an easy way out to prove your Christianity.”
