A police report has revealed a much more detailed account of what allegedly occurred between actor Kevin Spacey and William Little, the son of former Boston news anchor Heather Unruh, in July 2016.
The report, filed by Trooper Gerald Donovan, describes the incident through the lens of multiple interviews conducted with Little, as well as Little’s then-girlfriend, his sister, and others who were reportedly at the Club Car restaurant on the night of the alleged encounter with Spacey.
According to Little, after completing his shift at the Club Car restaurant on the evening of July 7, 2016, he met Kevin Spacey, who arrived at the Nantucket restaurant at around 11:30 p.m.
Little says he asked a friend to introduce him to Spacey, and the friend obliged. Little sat down at Spacey’s table, and during the ensuing conversation with the actor, then 18-year-old Little claimed to be 23, and a business major at Wake Forest.
Spacey allegedly asked Little if he wanted a drink, to which Little replied that he would like a “Stella.” Little drank several beers, then transitioned to whiskey, which was allegedly Spacey’s suggestion. At some point, the conversation turned to Little’s girlfriend.
According to the police report: “Spacey asked [Little] what he was packing and [Little] knew what he meant due to the context of the conversation they were having about [Little’s] girlfriend.” After Little answered, Spacey reportedly revealed his own penis size.
At some point during the evening, Little and Spacey exchanged numbers and moved to an area of the restaurant where there was a piano player. After some time at the piano, they went outside to smoke a cigarette, at which point, according to Little, Spacey pressured him to go back to his house. Little said he couldn’t because he had work the next day.
The police report states that Little saw Spacey’s suggestion as a “red flag” due to his prior remarks about his penis.
The two went back inside the restaurant and stood at the piano. According to the police report: “[Little] only lingered around because he wanted a picture with Spacey, something for Instagram. Spacey had told him if you come back with me, I will take a picture with you.”
While at the piano, Little alleges that Spacey started touching his thigh, then unzipped his fly.
The police report states:
[Little] said this happened quickly. Spacey unzipped his pants. [Little] wasn’t sure if Spacey went into his pants through the open zipper, but over [Little’s] pants and boxer shorts, putting his hand on [Little’s] penis. [Little] described it as a sexual manner. [He] was asked to expound upon that, and he described Spacey to be rubbing his d***. [Little] didn’t know what to do. He didn’t want to get in trouble at work or get his work in trouble…
[Little] thinks the touching went on for about three minutes. Spacey goes back and forth, in and out of his pants several times, more than two to three times, but closer to several times. Spacey continued the touching through the top of [Little’s] pants. He didn’t go in through the fly.
According to Little, his then-girlfriend didn’t believe him, so he sent her a Snapchat video allegedly showing Spacey’s hand “touching him,” although the report is unclear as to whether the video actually shows Spacey or just a man’s hand.
After Spacey went to the restroom, and Little briefly spoke with a woman who told him to go, Little claims he left the Club Car restaurant.
Trooper Donovan interviewed several individuals mentioned by Little in his report. While some employees remembered Spacey being there, and seeing Little with Spacey, none saw the alleged unwanted sexual advance. One off-shift employee did recall Little appearing “not like himself” after some interaction with Spacey, according to the police report.
Little says he told the Club Car owner the next day about the alleged incident. The report states that the owner “did not see Spacey assault anyone and no one talked to him about it happening.” In a subsequent interview, the owner claimed he heard staff joking with Little the next day about Spacey, and that he himself, in the summer of 2017, joked with Little about seeing Kevin Spacey movies.
Piano player Brian Buch said that he recalls Little and the owner discussing the alleged incident “at the next staff dinner,” reads the police report. Buch also told police that he saw Spacey groping another man at the bar that night. The police report states that Little reported the incident to the police via telephone on October 31, 2016.
Spacey is set to be arraigned in a Nantucket court on January 7, 2019.
