Pelosi Slaps Down Maxine Waters’ Call For More Harassment

After two high-profile Trump administration officials, who both happen to be women, were harassed by Trump protesters, Democratic Congresswoman and outspoken Trump critic Maxine Waters called for more, relentless harassment of administration members. But at least one equally vocal leader of the Democratic Party has made clear that she’s not willing to follow Waters’ lead.

On Saturday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders was asked by the owner of a restaurant to leave her establishment because she’s a member of the Trump administration. “Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left,” Sanders wrote in an account since proudly confirmed by the owner. “Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”

Speaking at a toy drive outside the Wilshire Federal Building this weekend, Waters called for more political targeting of individuals. “History will record while he tried to step on all of us, we kicked him in his rear and stepped on him,” Waters declared. “If you think we’re rallying now, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Already, you have members of your cabinet that are being booed out of restaurants, who have protesters taking up at their house, who say, ‘No peace, no sleep. No peace, no sleep.’ And guess what? We’re going to win this battle because while you try and quote the Bible, Jeff Sessions and others, you really don’t know the Bible. God is on OUR side! On the side of the children. On the side of what’s right. On the side of what’s honorable.”

Then the congresswoman specifically called for more targeting of Cabinet members: “And so, let’s stay the course. Let’s make sure we show up wherever we have to show up. And if you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere. Mr. President, we will see you ever day, every hour of the day, everywhere that we are to let you know you cannot get away with this!”

Former House Speaker Pelosi has made clear, however, that she won’t be getting behind her colleague’s call for more extreme political action — though she did her best to blame the Left’s extremism on Trump.

“In the crucial months ahead, we must strive to make America beautiful again,” wrote Pelosi Monday in a tweet linking to an article on Waters’ call to radical action. “Trump’s daily lack of civility has provoked responses that are predictable but unacceptable. As we go forward, we must conduct elections in a way that achieves unity from sea to shining sea.”

President Trump has also responded to “extraordinarily low IQ” Waters’ reckless declaration:

Earlier Monday, Trump also slammed the “dirty” restaurant that targeted his press secretary:

Among the other administration members that have already been victims of out of control political harassment is DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, whose home was descended upon by protesters, some of whom have threatened the children of administration members.

Trump-supporting Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi was also harassed for her support of the administration, some left-wing activists allegedly getting in her face and “spitting” on her.

“The video [left-wing activists] are choosing to share is of the least aggressive portion of the attack that transpired after police arrived to control the scene. What they are not sharing publicly are several previous encounters involving large men getting in the Attorney General’s face, spitting and blocking her exit,” Bondi’s spokeswoman Whitney Ray said.
