Obama FINALLY Responds To Charlotte Rioting … And Says Nothing

After a couple days of rioting and looting in Charlotte, NC over the shooting of an armed black man by a black cop, President Barack Obama finally responded to the situation with a slew of mealy-mouthed words that will do nothing to ameliorate the situation.

In an interview with ABC News’s Good Morning America, Obama said that change “requires being peaceful, that requires being thoughtful about what are the specific reforms you’re looking for.” He continued:

“[The] overwhelming majority of people who have been concerned about police-community relations [are] doing it the right way,” the president said. “Every once in a while you see folks doing it the wrong way.”

“I think it’s important to separate out the pervasive sense of frustration among a lot of African Americans about shootings of people and the sense that justice is not always color blind,” the president also said.

This is not the kind of statement that causes healing. By saying that rioting only happens “every once in a while,” he’s basically shrugging them off as not a big deal.

And yet, as Rush Limbaugh pointed out on his Wednesday show, riots are becoming the norm after police shootings. Whether it’s Ferguson, Milwaukee, Baltimore or Charlotte, the riots have become expected after a police officer–regardless of his or her color–fatally shoots a black man. The facts of the case don’t matter, as the rioters presume the cop to be guilty no matter what.

Obama has certainly contributed to this kind of toxic atmosphere that breeds riots, as he has peddled the fiction that cops perpetuate racism against minorities. Now he’s going to send his Department of Justice into Charlotte, which will only exacerbate the problem, as Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro explains:

That’s a terrific way to tamp down tensions, given that the head of the DOJ Civil Rights Division, Vanita Gupta, has said that the real reason for riots lies in slavery and Jim Crow. It’ll definitely ease stress that the DOJ will investigate these local shootings – after all, Nancy Pelosi says that she hopes such investigations “will ensure that justice is served.” And we know that the DOJ CRS has a grand history of using taxpayer money to its fullest, including facilitating bus transportation for Trayvon Martin protesters in Florida, and lecturing the residents of Ferguson about white privilege and racism. Ferguson mayor James Knowles III said that the CRS meetings in Ferguson were about “trying to get people to understand what [white privilege] means, because the average white person wakes up and says, if you’re just a middle-class white person, you say, What privilege do I have?”

GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump actually had a worthwhile statement on the unrest in Charlotte.

“You have to have law and order at the time, you have to have, you know, you have to have a certain spirit, a certain unity, and there’s no unity,” Trump said on Thursday’s Fox and Friends. “You look at the level of hatred, the, you know, the rocks being thrown and everything happening. It’s so sad to see. You know, this is the United States of America. I mean, it’s so sad to see. But there’s just no unity. There has to be a unity message that has to get out, and it starts with leadership.”
