New York Post Endorses Trump: He’s Not ‘One Of Them’

   DailyWire.com

The New York Post endorsed real estate mogul Donald Trump in a Thursday editorial that was heavy on rhetoric but light on substance.

The Post views Trump as “a potential superstar of vast promise, but making rookie mistakes.” They argue that he will start acting more mature.

“Should he win the nomination, we expect Trump to pivot — not just on the issues, but in his manner,” the editorial reads. “The post-pivot Trump needs to be more presidential: better informed on policy, more self-disciplined and less thin-skinned.”

What evidence do they have of this? They don’t say.

The Post praised Trump for jump-starting the electorate and bringing in millions of new voters.

“Trump is a do-er,” the Post gushed. “As a businessman, he’s created jobs for thousands. And he’s proven how a private-sector, can-do approach can rip through government red tape and get things done. These last 10 months, he’s ripped through a different morass — the nation’s stale, insider-driven politics. And he’s done it by appealing to the public’s anger at a government that’s eternally gridlocked when it comes to serving the people — but always able to deliver for the connected.”

The paper even said that Trump was accurate for calling the system “rigged.”

“To those fed up with the rule of lobbyists and an insular political class, to those who’ve seen their government ignore their needs — seen it continually degrade the quality not just of their economic lives, but of their place in society — Trump offers hope,” the editorial reads.

The Post then gives a rundown of Trump’s “rookie mistakes,” which included withdrawing troops from Japan and South Korea while allowing them to nuke up, building a wall as “far too simplistic,” his penchant for railing against free trade, and language that is too crude and divisive.

“But what else to expect from someone who’s never been a professional politician and reflects common-man passions?” the editorial read. “Indeed, his political incorrectness is one of his great attractions — it proves he’s not one of ‘them.’ He’s challenging the victim culture that has turned into a victimizing culture.”

The Post concludes that Trump is emblematic of “New York values” and can actually “make America great again.”

Many conservatives mocked the Post‘s endorsement of Trump:

“NY Post’s endorsement of Trump reads like a grade school progress report for a behavioral problem kid.”

Stephen Miller

As The Right Scoop writes, “They are endorsing who they want Trump to be, NOT who he is. Which is really pathetic, for both the New York Post and The Donald. What a terrible endorsement! They should have just endorsed Ted Cruz and not sold out.”
