The day following an attack by a devout Muslim husband and wife duo in San Bernardino, California which left 14 dead, the New York Daily News ran a supremely offensive headline which condemned prayer. Today, seemingly looking to eclipse their despicable behavior from the previous day, the paper ran a headline which equated the head of the NRA, Wayne LaPierre, with Syed Farook, one of the perpetrators of Wednesday’s terrorist attack.
“Syed Farook joins long list of murderous psychos enabled by NRA’s sick gun jihad against American in the name of profit,” reads the cover, under a picture of Farook.
The headline incorrectly implies that all the men on the cover are “psychos” and mentally unstable; which is certainly not the case for Farook, who was a Muslim adhering to his ideology. In addition to labeling LaPierre as a terrorist, the cover also slanders the NRA’s 4 million plus members and all others who support the Second Amendment and believe they have the right to defend themselves.
The four murderers on the cover are certainly despicable human beings, but all they happen to be white males–the publication conveniently left out the Muslim “Boston Bombers,” the shooter who killed four Marines in Tennessee and the Muslim Fort Hood “workplace violence” shooter.
