Charles Barkley has been retired since 2000, but on Tuesday night, the Hall of Famer dunked on San Francisco.

The voluble “NBA on TNT” host let loose on the City by the Bay while the network’s crew was in Dallas, where the Mavericks staved off elimination with a 119-109 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 4 of their playoff series. The game was interrupted by a rain delay as water leaked through the roof of the American Airlines Center.

“You know the bad thing about all this rain?” Barkley said, as Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson braced themselves for what was coming next. “It’s not raining in San Francisco to clean off those dirty ass streets.”

He added, “It’s a great city. But all that dirtiness & homelessness — y’all gotta clean that off the streets…San Francisco needs a good washing.”

When his broadcast pals tried to defend San Francisco, which has been plagued in recent years by rampant homelessness and crime and where so many people use the streets and sidewalks as a toilet that there’s a map online to help you avoid trouble spots, Sir Charles wasn’t having it.

“That looks beautiful,” Smith said as the broadcast shifted to a scene outside the Chase Center, where the Warriors play.

“That’s the good part of San Francisco,” Barkley replied. “Unfortunately TNT but us in the bad part.”

Barkley and the crew are believed to stay in Nob Hill while in San Francisco, which is an upscale neighborhood but not far from the infamous Tenderloin district.

Barkley and the Warriors’ fans have been going at it all series, and they have a long history.

On May 18, as Golden State fans heckled him during a commercial break, Barkley fired back a pointed remark about their mothers.

When the Warriors fans started chanting his name, Barkley called over, “Hey, you guys, leave me alone or I’ll come to your house and f*** your mama.”

That prompted the fans to start chanting, “Chuck, you suck!”

Earlier in the day, Barkley told the Warriors’ Draymond Green he had strong feelings about the San Francisco area, asserting, “I don’t dislike the area; I hate the area.”

“The area hates you,” Green joked, according to The Daily Mail reported.

“Barkley has been a villain in the Bay Area for the better part of two decades,” NBC Sports noted, adding, “It began in 2007 when he dissed the city of Oakland after the Warriors upset the top-seeded Dallas Mavericks. In the early days of the Warriors’ dynasty, Barkley refused to believe a core of ‘jump shooters’ like Steph Curry and Klay Thompson could bring home an NBA championship.”

The Warriors could be poised to have the last laugh on the Barkley, known during his playing days as “The Round Mound of Rebound.” Even with their loss on Tuesday, they have a commanding 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. The two teams now head back to San Francisco for a Thursday night tipoff where Golden State will be looking to end the series and advance to the NBA finals.
