Louisiana Rapper Shot In His Hometown, Dies Of Injuries At 24

Louisiana rapper JayDaYoungan was shot outside a residence in his hometown Wednesday night and later died of his injuries. He was 24.

The up-and-coming rapper, born Javorius Scott, was killed in a shooting in Bogalusa, the Bogalusa Police Department told CBS News in a piece published Thursday.

“On Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at 5:50 pm the Bogalusa Police Department received a call of a shooting in the 600 block of Superior Avenue,” a press release shared on the department’s Facebook page read.

When officers arrived, they found two victims had been shot. One person was “Kenyatta Scott Sr., a close family member of the rapper,” who “was hospitalized in stable condition.” The other person was the young rapper who was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died of his injuries.

“We can now identify the victims as Javorius Scott, A.K.A. JayDaYoungan and close family member Kenyatta Scott Sr. We can also confirm that Javorius Scott has died as a result of his injuries,” an update to the press release said.

“Kenyatta Scott Sr. has been transported to another facility and we have been told he is in stable condition,” it added. “Detectives are currently conducting interviews and working leads. Further information will follow as it becomes available.”

JayDaYoungan recently found success with such hits as “23 Island,” “Elimination,” and “Opps.”

In 2019, is debut album, “Misunderstood,” peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard 200, the outlet noted.

Florida rapper Rollie Bands was gunned down and killed outside his home July 22, only minutes after he reportedly took to Instagram and dared his critics to confront him.

Bands was shot in the parking lot outside his apartment complex in Tampa on Friday, the Daily Mail reported. The young star was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet it responded to a person shot in the rapper’s complex’s parking lot at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The report noted that the shooting happened just five minutes after Bands posted a message on his Instagram story.
