WASHINGTON — Activist groups are directing angry abortion protestors to the homes of “six extremist” Supreme Court justices amid swelling abortion protests in major cities around the country.
Reacting to a leaked draft opinion showing that the court is likely preparing to overturn Roe v. Wade, abortion supporters protested outside the United States Supreme Court on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Protests also took place in Los Angeles (where protestors violently clashed with police) and in New York City.
Now it appears that Supreme Court justices in Maryland and Virginia will be targeted by similar protests. The progressive activist group Ruth Sent Us announced “walk-by Wednesday,” urging protestors to come to “the homes of the six extremist justices, three in Virginia and three in Maryland.”
“The radical Left and their dark money funders have one goal, which is to intimidate the Court,” Judicial Crisis Network President Carrie Severino told The Daily Wire on Wednesday evening. “Showing up at the justices’ homes to harass them is absolutely beyond the pale and shows the lengths to which they are willing to go in order to undermine the Court’s independence.”
On its website, the group listed the street names where each justice supposedly lives with their families: Amy Coney Barrett, John Roberts, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas, and Neil Gorsuch.
“If you’d like to join or lead a peaceful protest, let us know,” the activist group said, adding in another message, “Our 6-3 extremist Supreme Court routinely issues rulings that hurt women, racial minorities, LGBTQ+ and immigrant rights. We must rise up to force accountability using a diversity of tactics.”
ShutDownDC is also advertising a Saturday evening “Candlelight Vigil for Roe v. Wade,” calling for abortion supporters to “join us in a march to Justices Kavanaugh and Roberts’ homes to protest for reproductive freedom!!”

ShutDownDC also led protestors to Kavanaugh’s home in September, expressing anxieties that their ability to get abortions would soon be inhibited through a Supreme Court decision on Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
Kavanaugh’s family did not appear to be home while the protestors were outside the house, which was heavily guarded by police. The protestors chanted and yelled outside Kavanaugh’s home, located in a quiet Maryland neighborhood, but did not touch the house or commit any acts of violence.
The group also protested at Republican Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley’s Virginia home in January. The senator said that he was not home at the time, warning, “My family & I will not be intimidated by leftwing violence.”

In a Tuesday editorial, the Wall Street Journal Editorial Board expressed concerns that an “abortion fanatic” might “commit an act of violence” in an effort to subvert the court’s expected decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“One question is how fast the Court should now move to publish its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization,” the board said. “There’s an argument for getting it out fast to make it a fait accompli.”
“Politico said the Alito draft was circulated in February, so the Justices have had ample time to absorb it and respond,” it continued. “We hate to say this, but some abortion fanatic could decide to commit an act of violence to stop a 5-4 ruling. It’s an awful thought, but we live in fanatical times.”

Politico revealed a draft opinion Monday showing that the justices will likely rule to overturn Roe v. Wade. The news has sparked nationwide protests and frenzy as pro-abortion rights supporters grapple with the potential that Roe v. Wade could soon be overturned.
All of the justices targeted by Ruth Sent Us voted with Alito, according to Politico, except the Chief Justice. How he will vote is unclear.
Many on the right have suggested that the draft opinion was most likely leaked by a progressive Supreme Court clerk in an effort to intimidate the court and change its decision — and as protests over the news continue, conservative activists and legal experts call for the Supreme Court to promptly release its decision on Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
