‘Jeopardy’ Host Alex Trebek Reveals He Has Cancer; CNN Host Uses News To Bash Trump

By  Joseph Curl

Not everything is about politics.

But to some people, everything is about politics.

On Wednesday, Alex Trebek, the beloved host of the TV quiz show “Jeopardy,” revealed that he has stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

That news is grim. People who are diagnosed at such a late stage go on to live an average of 12 to 15 months, pancreatic surgeon Dr. Timothy Donahue told USA Today. But the 78-year-old host vowed to fight, saying in a video posted to Twitter, “I’m going to fight this, and I’m going to keep working, and with the love and support of my family and friends — and with the help of your prayers also — I plan to beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”

“Truth told,” he joked in the video, “I have to, because under the terms of my contract, I have to host Jeopardy for three more years.”

With the horrible news, fans offered their prayers to Trebek and commented on his Twitter post, which was retweeted nearly 150,000 times. Dr. Eugene Gu, for instance, wrote: “So heartbroken. Miracles happen every day, and it’s not something medicine has any jurisdiction over. Keep fighting Alex, and keep believing. This is a matter of personal faith and courage, not statistics. We are with you all the way.”

But Chris Cuomo decided to go another route. The CNN host used the news to bash President Trump.

“Trebek is a major asset to our culture, not just to the game show,” Cuomo said. “In a time that is all about what is keeping us apart, we got tough news today about someone who has always brought America together, literally for decades,” Cuomo said on “Cuomo Prime Time.”

“Trebek is a major asset to our culture, not just to the game show. In a time of shallow beliefs and rampant truth abuse in our politics and beyond, every night he makes facts first.”

Cuomo, who had ashes on his forehead as part of Ash Wednesday, went on to praise Trebek and the American Cancer Society, saying all Americans should get regular check-ups. And he said to the host directly, “So, Mr. Trebek, fight as you have never fought before. Do everything you can, and please know you are respected for all the right reasons by all of us. We are with you, and we wish you well,” he said.

Reaction on social media ran about as expected.

“CNN is a joke. Just like you. Nothing but a parade of propaganda. And a festival of ignorance. You have zero credibility. You’re definitely no journalist. CNN is proof that investigative journalism is dead. Give up your endless diatribe against the POTUS,” one person wrote replying to Cuomo’s tweet.

“I used to watch your Prime time show, when there was a semblance of balance but your show has devolved into an over the top political bias and hit piece against conservatives and it is quite frankly cringeworthy to watch,” wrote another.

So, once again, we’ve hit a new all-time low. Now, we use tragic news from a beloved game show host to bash the president of the United States for political reasons.

We can no doubt go lower, but it’s hard to see how.
