Friday afternoon, Jen Psaki officially began her last press briefing serving the American public as President Joe Biden’s White House press secretary. Soon, she will reportedly join MSNBC as an on-air guest in addition to hosting a show on its affiliated online steaming service, Peacock.

While her boss recently praised Psaki for her service to the country, not everybody has been a fan of Psaki’s performance.

“After a year of promising to circle back and leaving more questions than answers, Jen Psaki will no longer put spin on Biden’s record of failure from the White House podium — her new employer encourages it daily,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Emma Vaughn said in a statement emailed to The Daily Wire.

“Jen Psaki has set the standard for returning decency, respect and decorum to the White House Briefing Room,” Biden said in a statement prior to her departure.

“I want to say thank you to Jen for raising the bar, communicating directly and truthfully to the American people, and keeping her sense of humor while doing so,” he added. “I thank Jen her service to the country, and wish her the very best as she moves forward.”

Additionally, the RNC expressed its desire to see Biden interviewed by Psaki sometime down the road.

“Perhaps Joe Biden’s first press interview in more than 90 days will be with Jen at MSNBC,” Vaughn added in her emailed statement.

Biden’s last formal, sit-down TV interview with a member of the press was on February 10 with NBC’s Lester Holt.

The president previously announced that White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will replace Psaki.

“Karine not only brings the experience, talent and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people,” Biden remarked. “Jill and I have known and respected Karine a long time and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and this Administration.”

Psaki also praised Biden’s pick for the job because Jean-Pierre will be the first black female to hold the position as well as the first open lesbian.

“She will be the first black woman and the first openly LGBTQ+ person to serve as the White House Press Secretary,” Psaki tweeted. “Representation matters and she will give a voice to many, but also make many dream big about what is truly possible.”

On Friday, Psaki thanked the White House press pool for their time spent together.

“I want to thank all of you in this room. You have challenged me, you have pushed me, you have debated me and at times we have disagreed. That is democracy in action,” Psaki said. “That is it working. Without accountability, without debate, government is not as strong.”

Psaki will reportedly start her gig with MSNBC by September.
