Jeb! is pathetic!
Jeb Bush, exiled into the wilderness by Donald Trump during the 2016 GOP presidential nomination race — when Trump nicknamed him “Low-energy Jeb” — is still angry. Very angry.
Jeb had the name (perhaps the third “Bush” to be president) and the resume (successful governor of Florida, the fourth-largest state). Plus, he was the darling of the Establishment, and those guys usually sweep to the nomination. But he got outgunned by a force for which he was completely unprepared.
So how did Jeb decide to hit back? By saying that Trump’s children don’t love him.
Bush, in a talk sponsored by the The William F. Buckley, Jr. Program at Yale University, said that after the 2016 Republican primary in South Carolina, he returned home to children who “actually love me.”
As things do in the 21st century, news of the comment spread fast, and the Trump kids took to Twitter to respond.
“Jeb! I love everything about my father,” Donald Trump Jr. wrote. “I love that he’s a fighter, I love that he has guts, I love that he’s President (all those things you’re not)”. The president’s namesake also shredded Jeb for his pathetic presidential run, saying, “Also love that he learned enough about politics in a few weeks to dismantle you piece by piece despite it being your life’s work.”
Eric Trump piled on, but his tweet was simple and to the point — with one brutal twist of the knife.
The “#pleaseclap” hashtag was a reference to this memorable moment.
Ouch.
In the Yale appearance, Jeb also said, “I’m not going to talk about the 2016 election. I’m still in therapy.”
Note to Jeb: Keep attending those counseling sessions. And maybe think about adding an anger management course.
